If I understand correctly this digital id will be on your phone which isnt exactly the safest thing considering 13 phones are stolen every hour in London plus everything getting hacked all the time... But what about all the old people who don't have smart phones ?

Apparently most of Europe have digital IDs but to me it just seems pointless

This reminds me of that Yes minister sketch - I think you know the one I mean..

there are millions of people with either no passport or photo driving licence and its getting harder and almost impossible for them to function online without one esp in financial sector with stuff like bank accounts

dont know why they just dont do a photo version of the National insurance Card

problem with this sort of thing is they never make it only some important things can access the data

Better still - just force it down on the migrants when they arrive - they'll soon realise that the UK isn't all that they have been promised.

^They should be fitted with GPS Tags on arrival. The rest of the population should not be forced to have mandatory ID (that apparently you don't have to carry or produce...yeah, right) just because we've got people floating ashore and working illegally for Deliveroo etc.

Now it seems the moronic Lisa Nandy has said that you won't be fined for not having a Digital ID but you won't be able to get a job without one. So, as per usual in this country, if you actually work you're treated like a second class citizen whose only duty is to pay for those who want to sit on their arses all day.

Meanwhile, Billy-Ray down the road still gets to spend all day flying around on his stolen Quad Bike and "working" at night liberating some old Granny's 10 year old TV from her house via the window.

Labour party conference,a lot of clapping and congratulating each other on how well they have done.Must be great living in a bubble, until it bursts.

Someone needs to tell Reeves, going further & faster isn't really the best policy when you're in a tailspin Rolleyes
