No not just you. I think I have made my thoughts quite clear over the last few weeks. Not got much else to say without risk of repeating myself RE: Dr Who - munch1917 - 12-05-2013 09:19 The cybermen just don't cut it for me anymore. Compare them to the borg in Star Trek, and they are way down the league in scariness. A generation ago those tin men may have been scary, but these days not so much so. Next weeks villains with the silk balaclavas don't quite look scary enough for me either. I seem to recall they had a similar looking baddie on Buffy the Vampire Slayer at one time, but much better executed, they looked more 'real', less fancy dress party than these. Add the poor costumes/effects to the poor scripts, and, as others have mentioned, the all-powerful sonic screwdriver (why it has the title 'screwdriver' when driving screws seems to be the one thing it NEVER does is beyond me) and all in all, we have really lost our way somewhat. I continue to watch more in hope than expectation, but continue to be disappointed. Even the 'prequel' episode was a let down, I watched and came away thinking 'was that it'. It really wasn't worth the effort of producing, and certainly wasn't worth the effort of hiding it on the red button as though it was something special. Ah well, look on the bright side, at least we can only be let down once more this series! RE: Dr Who - bytor - 12-05-2013 11:50 In it's defence and despite all my criticism I do have to put things into context. It's better than 99% of the dross that passes for entertainment on TV. I think what disappoints me the most is that they could probably have put the same amount of effort in and produced a great series. RE: Dr Who - Doddle - 13-05-2013 17:55 The main problem with monsters, really since the series came back in 2005, is that they're there to sell merchandise first & foremost. It's no good saying "we need to make the Cybermen scary again", when you started off by giving them a silly "Delete! Delete!" catchphrase to compare with the Daleks, and then let the Daleks kick the crap out of them, all of which was less important than reuniting Rose Tyler's family.
