Ashley Giles has put his England team managerial/coach concerns behind him and has joined Lancashire as chief executive. Obviously no such role was available with his native county Warwickshire.

The West Indies have abandoned their tour of India approximately a third of the way through because of a long running pay dispute between the WI players and their board. The WICB will have to now pay out over £30M to the BCCI in compensation. The main problem is that the WICB doesn't have that amount in their coffers.

Sad

The BBCI has now cancelled all forthcoming tours by India of the West Indies. It is seen as an act of reprisal against the WICB for abandoning their tour of India.

The WICB are in need of the finances that an Indian tour will/would provide. Now these tours have been cancelled for the foreseeable future the parlous state of West Indies cricket has now become very serious indeed.

I read that the English county players want highlights of the one day matches and T20 games to be shown on a free-to-air broadcaster. That's fair enough, and also good for the public - but, the question is which free-to-air broadcaster is interested? The BBC aren't and neither is Channel Four.

Huh

The BBC seem to be relinquishing all their obligations to Sport in general .
The tv deal with Sky more than adequately caters for domestic Cricket and I'll wager the vast majority of would be viewers of BBC /C4/C5 Cricket already have access to Sky .

It'll remain a mystery I guess why the BBC gave up so easily on regular sport coverage.

In 1999 when BBC TV lost the rights to broadcast cricket there was, allegedly, a huge relief in certain quarters.
