RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 15-02-2025 21:30 Mark Selby saw out a 6-3 win over Luca Brecel this afternoon to reach the final in Llandudno. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 16-02-2025 00:08 Mark Selby is the last hope ![]() For the sake of snooker and humanity Selby must win. I'm off to familiarise myself with the rules of billiards just in case the worst happens ![]() This has unquestionably been the most depressing tournament I have watched for over 30 years. Absolutely spirit crushing. #Selbytosaveusall The only thing that could be worse is if Max Verstappen were a snooker player and it was him v The Misery. That would be hibernation proportions ![]() RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Joannis - 16-02-2025 08:35 Craptain Carter is out ![]() ![]() Maguire's in the final now I'm impartial today, and hope it's a good match. I'd like to see Maguire do well even if he loses. Maguire is currently being coached by former Scottish professional Chris Small. Small won only one ranking tournament in his professional career, the 2002 LG Cup, but he beat Alan Mcmanus in the final, and Ronnie O'Sullivan and John Higgins on the way. Small has Maguire taking his time on his shots more, and playing them with care. He's less of the maverick he used to be. It'll be interesting to see how his new style can cope with Selby in a longer match on a big occasion. Maguire has won 6 professional titles, this would be his seventh if he wins. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Doddle - 16-02-2025 17:19 Wasn't Chris Small the guy who made it to the top 16 but couldn't physically manage to make most tournaments? He seemed to have a demeanour that made Maguire seem like Ainsley Harriott. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 16-02-2025 17:25 The Misery hosting Ready Steady Cook on BBC2. Now I have an image in my brain I will never be able to unsee ![]() Gone right off that show now ![]() RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Joannis - 16-02-2025 21:07 (16-02-2025 17:19 )Doddle Wrote: Wasn't Chris Small the guy who made it to the top 16 but couldn't physically manage to make most tournaments? He couldn't carry on and had to retire. If Maguire can pull it off tonight, I think Chris Small deserves some kind of award and recognition. I doubt it's gonna come back a 3rd time. 6-6 at the last mid-session interval... ![]() RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 16-02-2025 22:35 Always preferred billiards anyway ![]() ![]() RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 16-02-2025 23:27 Salvation. Mark Selby - I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you, thank you thank you. Snooker is saved. For that good Sir I will be switching my support to you for the World Championship at The Crucible. You deserve it for protecting my sanity and preventing snooker doom. ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Joannis - 16-02-2025 23:28 Fantastic effort from Maguire to get to 6-6 with Selby in a major final, but in the end his lack of experience playing in recent finals showed as Selby dominated the last 3 frames to win 9-6. Maguire can console himself in that the £45,000 runner up prize means he'll be going to Hong Kong to play in the World Grand Prix in a couple of weeks time. |
