I had a chuckle when I finally recognised ol' Captain Darling, lol. And I wish they would have let the guy playing Blackfish keep his Scottish accent, I think it would have sounded a lot better.

Plus, was it just me or was last nights episode just one big 'growl off'. Never have so many blokes wore so many beards and talked in so many gruff tones lmao!

I thought that, they are in the north, maybe midlands, there was no reaosn to make him a southener.

They're in a fictional country called Westeros ,not Britain .
It's actually considerably bigger than Britain ,around twice the length and about a third wider .

They still have a north, midlands and south though, which is reflected in UK regional accents. By rights the wildlings should sound scots, but the sound more nordic.

^ The actress playing the part of Ygritte is Scottish but she played the role with a strong Yorkshire accent.
And Dubliner Liam Cunningham plays the part of Davos with a geordie accent.

So I'm surprise that they don't have the Blackfish speaking Brummie Big Grin

Real actress has one of the poshest accents out, i think she lives in a castle in real life.

well if we're splitting hairs :
Jamie Lannister speaks Aussie .
Tyrion speaks Irish - American .
Cersi speaks with no discernable accent and they're all supposed to have been brought up together !
Gendry was born and raised in the next street to Davos in Fleabottom but they don't have the same accent .
Sansa and Arya Stark are born and bred "Northerers " but speak in Southern English accents .Likewise their youngest two brothers Bran and Rickon .Strangely ,Rob spoke with a passable Northern English accent ,has does John Snow .
"You'll be betrayed by your accent and manner" -Paul Weller -The Jam : Strange Town 1979.

Are you English?

Jamie is trying to speak with a British accent but the actors natural accent comes through, tyrion speaks with an English accent, Cersi also, there are siblings in the show. I real life, I speak very broad, mum middling, the runt tries to speak all proper, but we sit away from them; so families can have differeing accents.

Arya has a northern twang, Sansa sounds like he just was educated, ditto Rickon and bran, I suppose it depends how much time they spent with their tutor.

John snow speaks with that fake northern accent, the ee by gum type, that northern people can pick out, that said, it's a whole heap betetr than Brenda Blethyn in Little Voice, that was boarder line racsit and offensive. Big Laugh

RE: Game Of Thrones - mickster - 13-06-2016 03:06

Tyrion speaks with a English accent , like hell he does.
Arya Stark doesn't have a Northern twang at all, she's from Bristol and talks exactly like she does in real life and everything she's been on telly in.
P.S.
I 'm from West Yorkshire and can tell a Northern accent a mile away .
P.P.S.
Can you spell ?
