RE: US Election & Presidency - wackawoo - 29-01-2017 03:57 Guessing he'll have to amend it pretty soon. He's and incredibly odd fellow, he speaks a lot of sense and common knowledge, sounds pretty reasonable and sane during press confrerences, but the press and media would have us believe he's Caligula. RE: US Election & Presidency - Charlemagne - 29-01-2017 04:22 A US Federal judge has put a hold on the deportations RE: US Election & Presidency - lovebabes56 - 29-01-2017 06:39 I bet he'll find a way to get that ruling overturned or he'll most likely stick two fingers up to the judge and deport them anyway RE: US Election & Presidency - lovebabes56 - 29-01-2017 06:41 (29-01-2017 03:57 )wackawoo Wrote: Guessing he'll have to amend it pretty soon. The way he's acting he makes Caligula look pretty normal RE: US Election & Presidency - munch1917 - 29-01-2017 09:21 (29-01-2017 03:57 )wackawoo Wrote: he speaks a lot of sense and common knowledge, sounds pretty reasonable and sane during press confrerences Why am I not surprised at that comment coming from you (29-01-2017 06:39 )babelover48 Wrote: I bet he'll find a way to get that ruling overturned or he'll most likely stick two fingers up to the judge and deport them anyway Not even the president can ignore the law, he will have to challenge the ruling or amend his order. Interesting that the judge ruled that this stay returned everything to how it was before, i.e. it would be illegal to continue to detain people until the final hearings. Expect some major confusion at passport control points, and further law suits. There's an oscar nominee who would be barred from attending because of this. Lots of lovies condemning it, be nice if they would all grow a pair and refuse to attend as well, or if the organisers just cancelled in protest. Whats the likelihood? RE: US Election & Presidency - lovebabes56 - 29-01-2017 10:44 1) As far as the Oscars go I can't see either scenario working, and I agree it would be nice if the luvvies banded together and made their feelings on the issue clear how many British actors/actresses and possibly entertainers would refuse to attend? 2) I certainly don't think he'll amend it or challenge it I think he'll just try and push on with it and ignore the ruling because he probably feels as far as he is concerned he has the final say!! Not only that, if he carries on what he's doing at the moment, I don't think his presidency will even last 100 days!! I bet even now there's someone out there who might even be plotting to get rid of him!! all I can see happen is America becoming far more isolated in the world at large - I even shudder to think if his next move might actually bring 'Escape from New York" into reality!! Worryingly his "Racist in Chief" Steve Bannon will now have a regular seat at the meetings whilst the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staffs (the highest ranking US military officer) is no longer a permanent member. In other news it's being reported that when Trump visits the UK he doesn't want to meet Prince Charles as he is not prepared to have his ear bent on climate change. Finally I've found something I agree with Corbyn on - Trump should not be welcomed on a state visit here whilst the immigration ban is in place. RE: US Election & Presidency - lovebabes56 - 29-01-2017 11:15 I agree but if he is not welcome here while that ban is in place and if we do refuse him a state visit, I can only see him making it harder & more difficult for UK citizens, sportsmen & women, entertainers & musicians to visit the US if that happened then probably the earliest sporting casualty of any such action could be Danny Willett defending his Augusta title and maybe even prevent NFL games taking place in London as there probably could be many NFL players who may not be able to re - enter too after playing here this ban could have far more consequences than before or probably even dream of |
