Ventilators also have to recycle the air which is breathed out so it uses filters to stop bacteria and viruses reentering the body.
Dyson pioneered filters in vacuum cleaners, so his company is as well equipped as any to make ventilators,

Some options seem to have been ruled out for controversial reasons: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-52052694

Edit: Story has now been adjusted to a communication 'lost in the post' one.

Brits are being urged to join a mass round of applause from their doorsteps, windows and balconies on Thursday at 8pm, in a gesture of thanks to the frontline healthcare heroes

Work Update

Started shop shutdown procedure today getting rid of stock that was out of date was a priority and ther was a lot! once that was done scanned through drinks for disposal think there will be a fair bit of it tomorrow thst will be for disposal then the store remains shut over weekend then back in on Monday for next and maybe final bit and I think then that will be that - for god knows how long we'll be closed for, just have to hope it will not be too long. It just feel like it is some kind of dream thst we'll probably wake up from one day or a disaster movie in which that we're all actors acting our part individually but seeing thr shopping centre shutting down and shops both inside and out with lights out, no one inside and shutters down streets empty does make it that surreal.

All we can do now is pray and hope this thing doesn't hang around for too long. And when it is over it will be weird walking back into work and serving people again, but we'll all be probably thinking "What was that all about?" On thing is for sure we definitely are fighting a truly nasty, unseen enemy not just here, but right across the globe.

Anyway new police powers include a £60 fine for not staying at home - so it's "Okay to fine you for meeting friends, but not when you are in a crowded warehouse??" As Andy Burnham has pointed out

This was a announced by out Home Secretary Priti Patel (the one accused of bullying)

I write a fair bit of poetry in my spare time, hardly any of it reaches this forum.
But what the heck, here is one offering Blush.

A national emergency has been decreed
A time for unity over anarchy and selflessness over greed

Warning all countries a deadly virus is sweeping through
Do not take for granted that it won’t affect yourself or those close to you

Complacency is the curse that can see health systems crash and burn
Engage in social distancing to avoid that fateful worst turn

Do not venture out from your home unless you must
Key workers the exception to fight the cause so just

To stockpile is to block the vulnerable from essential supplies
Mass congregating has consequences one cannot disguise

To fail to heed warning now is to not comprehend
The science that should guide us to self defend

A moment has arrived that will define us all
Stand together in spirit only to answer Coronas call

This is a unique test in our island story
Where damage limitation is relative glory

This is a virus to be fought together and yet also alone
Consider this carefully, where you can stay at home

In the years to come we will have cause to reflect on this time
Let us not look back then with cause for regret in rhyme
