Chris Evans Yeah I thought it was a little to much of a coincidence - I watched it coz bugger all else on last night. Again irony of ironies during the news section Clarkson was threatening to punch a motorway traffic road improvement coordinator for having a 50 mile per hour average speed limit zone. OK funny joke but given what happened the signs have been there for years. Oh the Lancia item was great and really wish they did more stuff like this apart from the Lancia V Morris non-race - They couldn't just do a decent piece on cars they always had to arse about! Chris EvansYeah I thought it was a little to much of a coincidence - I watched it coz bugger all else on last night. Last night in the news bit they also mentioned the Danish Zenvo car, which was nice since they did eventually review the blasted thing. Chris Evans, though, talking about the importance of owning a $12m car that belonged to James Coburn... who in 25-30 years time would buy stuff because it had Evans' aura of coolness? Sadly in our society, some people have that "do no wrong" aspect that means they get forgiven because they are "cool" cf. Kate Moss. If Evans punches a producer, or a co-host, or a guest, he will be laughing it off all the way to the bank RE: Top Gear - HannahsPet - 21-06-2015 18:39 Report Sun online that Sabine Schmitt gonna be the first female stig WTF is the point of that she will have to wear the helmet or helmut Stig supposed to be anonymous and not have a speaking part and its also a foil for the Some Say bit where they can insert topical gags into the show RE: Top Gear - lovebabes56 - 21-06-2015 19:36 she's a good choice but surely the Stigs' true identity is supposed top be a closely guarded secret? But lovd the piece Clarkson did n yesterday's sun...definitely is an end of an era in motor show programming IMO with Top Gear as we knew it... RE: Top Gear - bytor - 22-06-2015 05:54 If they are going to continue with the show then the need to drop the 'Stig' entirely and the star in a reasonably priced car. Both elements had overstayed their welcome prior to the the recent upheaval. If they are going to continue with a new team then it needs a fresh approach. Are you surely not suggesting that they make a 50 minute show about Chris Evans waffling about his car collection and the show is based around that? the Star in a reasonably priced car is one part that of the show most enjoy, even if it likely to be that the thing the new show will probably drop is the challenges.... Problem is they cant get rid of the stig as stig merchandise is a big money spinner for bbc. i bet 80% of top gear merchandise is stig related Problem for BBC and Evans is that Top gear is not a show its a franchise thats why it will fall on its tits if they go and try to be the old car show it was reckon this new show clarkson may and hammond are doing will drop all the consumer bit which i think the BBC made them do and just do the big stuff RE: Top Gear - munch1917 - 22-06-2015 14:28 (22-06-2015 07:22 )HannahsPet Wrote: Problem for BBC and Evans is that Top gear is not a show its a franchise I read an interesting piece somewhere last week. It was saying that of all the numerous countries where a Top Gear of some sort is shown, by far the most popular are the originals with Clarkson and co, even if they have to be dubbed into the local language. Saw a piece today repeating that Netflix and Amazon are among the runners to get the new show, but interestingly also suggesting Fox are in contention. Am I right in thinking Fox is Murdoch owned, as is the Sun, which Clarkson writes for? Tenuous link maybe, but perhaps enough to give that rumour a little credibility. Then again, it also cheekily suggested the new show may be called 'Top Gear Worldwide', neatly side-stepping the beeb's claim on 'Top Gear', whilst emphasising the global appeal of the show. Come to think of it, I think this was in the Mail, so it's probably all madey uppy RE: Top Gear - HannahsPet - 22-06-2015 14:44 One channel i would love it to be on would be HBO in the states so can be shown on sky over here i mean they have some great comedys on there already that get away with a lot like Real time with Bill mahr . and if they can produce game of thrones and get it past regulators in the states and here then top gear would be a shoe in |
