Stage 5 today is a time trial between Change to Laval Espance Mayenne.
Why do they pick so many unknown places to start and finish.

Money - towns bid for the honour (and the large spending in the area by cycling fans for years to come)

Solvenian Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates won the Stage, but Van der Poel still held onto the yellow jersey.

I think it is good to showcase new places and promote their economies, so long as the quality of the racing and parcours is retained.

The start Stage 6 is one place where I've been. Tours to Chateauroux. It's 160.6kms which should include a sprint finish.
