834 plays 1124 .... annoying that my upload speed far outweighs my download speed... which is totally shite; and explains why i'm having net issues this week..... me thinks a trip to visit Mr 3 tomorrow is in order...!!??

What Don didn't mention was that he lives in a large town that Virgin have installed fibre optic technology in, hence his high speeds.

Many of us live in rural area where fibre optic is still a dream 'cos of the high installation costs & relatively low returns: I live on the Montgomeryshire/Shropshire border area,
7 miles from my telephone exchange (Oswestry) which last summer installed fibre optic technology, but only in the immediate area; however for reasons I don't understand my speeds which occasionally nudged 5MBs download, usually around 3MBs, sometimes at busy periods down to 150KBs is now consistently at around 7.2MBs.
My upload speed used to be consistent at around 360KBs, is now consistent at around 870KBs.

Downloading webstream used to be near impossible at peak times & ironically our local computer expert, living less than 1 mile away says his normal download speed is around 2MBs, 'cos he's linked to Welshpool exchange which is still copper wire technology & he's 6 miles from the exchange.

Some sample test readings from early hours of this morning>>>> top one downloading 6 webstreams concurrently, 2nd one downloading 1 webstream, bottom one unloaded.
