RE: web browsers - BigChuck - 11-05-2009 16:06 thanks for that. has anyone been using google chrome? RE: web browsers - ǝʌɐʍǝpɐןq - 11-05-2009 16:14 BigChuck Wrote:Has anyone been using Google Chrome? I don't use Google Chrome because Google have a license to track wherever you go. The German gouvernment has actually warned against using Google Chrome. RE: web browsers - nine hundred - 11-05-2009 16:14 I like BladeWave use Mozilla Firefox (http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/central/). I switched over from IE 6 or 7 i believe (soz, but cant really remember) about a year ago, when i got a new laptop. Just didn't like the look and feel of the then new IE. I was also starting to hear of a lot of IE specific virus' (and don't even get me started on the pop ups). I went to a friends house who is on the web 23/7 (lol ) using Firefox. He suggested it was a good time to make the switch (re; new laptop mentioned above). To be honest, he was actually quite surprised that people would still choose to use IE. I was unsure at the time, but bowed to his superior web experience. I can honestly say that i have never looked back. Firefox is a pleasure to use. As mentioned by BladeWave, it is a lot quicker, and does have some virtually impregnable security measures. To add to that, it is also highly customisable. You can quickly get ad-ons (user generated scripts approved by Firefox, that allow you to personally customise your browsing experience). This can all be done through an easy reach icon situated in the toolbar. For my browsing profile (high stream content, and multiple open tabs), this ad-on capability is the biggest attraction. A few of my favourites include; 1. DownloadHelper (5/5) - Downloads videos and music from sites with one click (i.e. Youtube, Daily Motion, Red Tube and hundreds of others). 2. Cool Previews (5*/5)- Hover the mouse over an active link to preview the page in a micro window, which closes automatically when you move the cursor away from the link. 3. Firefox Showcase (3.5/5) - Displays all tab windows (and reduced version of page) in mini format on the one page. There are numerous others, but i suggest you have a look through them, to best decide which ones will suit/enhance your browsing experience. Full list/recommended ad-ons available here (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox). In a bid to pose a balanced view, I have really spent time thinking about negatives associated with using Firefox. In all honesty, i cannot think of any major issues (apart from a slight slowdown when i have in excess of 40 tabs open ...don't ask ). I fully appreciate that my style of browsing may not be as resource draining as other styles, but for myself and other users i know of, no major issues have been encountered. Hope this helps . p.s. If you have not already done so, then it may be worth having a quick read through this thread if you do decide to go with Firefox (http://www.babeshows.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=5683). RE: web browsers - BigChuck - 11-05-2009 17:33 thanks for the suggestion, i'm now using firefox, seems ok so far. RE: web browsers - SirAssAlot - 11-05-2009 17:48 I use Internet Explorer 8, Fire Fox, Flock & Avant Browser lol The reason i use different web browers is because some site work better on Fire Fox, Flock & Avant Browser.
