They could also face a 10 point deduction too I predicted this would happen a few years ago, for far too long Scottish football has been dominated by the big 2 and I think in the coming years that the old firm might just be losing their grip on Scottish footballs stranglehold. But why has this happened, greed and naivety, spending money without a care in the world. The manager that fucked this up was Dick Advocat (1998 - 2001) when he overspent and gambled on European success to pay for it that never happened. For once the Rangers support will get a taste of reality and it'll be interesting to see the real fans now from the glory hunting mob in terms of what kind of backing they now recieve http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-17015966 RE: Scottish Football - Nylonsub - 13-02-2012 19:49 I am absolutely devasted by this news my beloved gers are in so much trouble, however I agree that Dick Advocat was the start of our problems, 12million on Tore Andre Flo, seriously the guy couldn't score in a brothel. Craig Whyte talks about administration being the only way to ensure the club survives, I really hope for all the teddy bears out there he is right ! RE: Scottish Football - Money_Shot - 13-02-2012 20:13 It was due to owners some 15-20 years ago apprently, found a loop hole in some law and they took advantage, paying players into off-shore accounts. HMRC caught wind and the shits hit the fan. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17013512 If Celtic think they can continue then they're wrong. The only half interesting thing (to an out sider, e.g us English) about an already dull SPL is the Old Firm. Can anyone seriously think that another club could fill the void if the worst happened. It'd spell disaster for Scottish football as I think the money would go for all sides, not just Celtic. RE: Scottish Football - Chilly - 14-02-2012 17:35 Doesn't help that Rangers decided to get involved with Baxendale-Walker. That really is one company to avoid. RE: Scottish Football - SOCATOA - 14-02-2012 17:44 Makes the SPL into a one horse race Bad bad day for Scottish football. Rangers so called "Little General" from the 90,s has a lot to answer for. Sponsers will be taking stock no doubt. RE: Scottish Football - southsidestu - 14-02-2012 18:34 Dissapointed that my club have filed for administration "Sir" David Murray has fucked us up with his poor handling of the club. This would be bad for the Scottish game without the most supported team in the UK and one half of the old firm there is no way that sky and ESPN will fork out the same money if they do at all. Money other teams could go the same way without TV money RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 14-02-2012 18:39 And they've been deducted 10 points too now, it's caused massive shock waves throughout the whole of Scotland. As a Dundee United supporter I can't help but laugh at the situation, for too many years we have witnessed other clubs outside the big 2 face the harsh reality of administration with little sympathy coming from the old firm, the fans have now realised what it feels like to support the other less glamorous clubs, also they along with Celtic fucked up the SKY TV deal a few years ago because they wanted a bigger slice of the cake than the other 10 clubs so in many ways Ranger's have got their comeuppance for years of greed and sheer selfishness PS - Rangers still haven't paid Dundee United £100,000 for their share of the money after the recent Scottish Cup meeting. http://www.thecourier.co.uk/Sport/Football/article/20928/dundee-united-facing-100-000-hit-from-rangers-administration-move.html RE: Scottish Football - Doddle - 14-02-2012 19:06 (13-02-2012 20:13 )Money_Shot Wrote: Can anyone seriously think that another club could fill the void if the worst happened.I bet Scottishbloke can Bad day for Scotch footy, it doesn't look good that 1 of the top 2 should cock up like this. 10 point deduction is a bit silly, though, just means the season's as good as over RE: Scottish Football - cosmonaut - 15-02-2012 10:34 (14-02-2012 19:06 )Doddle Wrote: 10 point deduction is a bit silly, though, just means the season's as good as over Yes the 10 point deduction is the most dramatic aspect of this situation. After all it's sent Rangers plummeting down the table from 2nd to err.... 2nd. RE: Scottish Football - Doddle - 15-02-2012 13:39 It's not really a promising sell, is it? "Can Motherwell finish 2nd?!?" I wouldn't want them to be demoted or anything. I still remember Livingston getting dropped and ruining East Stirling's best season in about 30 years |
