my review for this film that i did in another post:
This is the greatest film ever made, only February and already my best film of 2012 and it will remain that way no doubt, this is like a horror/thriller/melodrama about a young woman visiting her family after being on the run from a mental cult in the woods, and she could be putting her sister in danger, this film shows Elizabeth Olsen can act, better than her big sisters the Olsen Twins,a fine performance,my cousin was bored stiff with this film,i wasn't,i was riveted, just a great story and Elizabeth Olsen is one to watch out for,see this!

Gremlins

Here is a great comedy horror from Joe Dante, who previously made The Howling, this is the little cute creatures called mogwai, you can't feed them after midnight and don't get them wet, well some get fed after midnight and get wet spawning more and they aren't little mogwai anymore, they are horrible killer gremlins, great film with more humour than horror, has a decent sequel too

Super 8

very good horror adventure, made by J.J Abrams who uses elements of another film he worked on,Cloverfield, which is a better film really, but this is good too,a bunch of kids are making their own horror film near some train tracks,a train crashes, and a big monster escapes from one of the carriages,i really enjoyed this,i dunno why so many other people didn't like it,recommended

Rear Window

Excellent suspense thriller from Hitchcock,James Stewart is the photographer stuck in his flat with a broken leg and spies on his neighbours with a telescope and soon believes that a man has murdered his wife in a flat across from him, very good suspense in this film and still great to watch, fuck Disturbia, this is the real deal, and Grace Kelly, what a stunner, highly recommended

My Little Eye

Hadn't seen this one for a long time, nice little horror film,it is about a group of people taking part in a Big Brother style reality show being shown on the web, they all socialise in a big house in the middle of some woods, not really knowing what the object of the show is,but when weird stuff starts to happen, one guy hacks into a laptop and finds out the webshow's true purpose and it ain't nice, this is an enjoyable low budget horror that is quite bleak but entertaining, what horror isn't bleak?,also worth mentioning that Bradley Cooper features in this film,he is now a big name actor of course now, check this one out

The Hole

I was very surprised with this one, thought it would be awful and not creepy, but this is an excellent fantasy horror from Joe Dante,2 brothers and a female friend find boarded up trapdoor in the basement of their house,so what do they do,unboard it of course and then the fun begins, creepy fun that is,highly recommended, there is one very eerie moment in this film, watch out for it,i am sure you will know what part i am talking about, plus what a great ending, hopefully Joe Dante does more films now

Blow

Excellent biographical drama about George Jung, who had a huge cocaine empire in the 1970s,career best performances from Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz, even Emma Roberts is good in her film debut, very gritty in places and downbeat, but watchable, dunno why it got snubbed from award shows, recommended yup

Requiem For A Dream

A grim film showing the lives of drug addicts,Trainspotting has a plot like that but that has moments of humour, nothing funny happens in this bleak drama,Ellen Burstyn stands out amongst the addicts, best performance since The Exorcist, also a mention to Jennifer Connelly for her most mature performance in a film, even emo boy Jared Leto does well, not a happy film, not one to watch with the family, but a good watch, recommended if you don't get depressed easily

Real Steel, excellent sci fi boxing drama i guess you could call it,set in the future where the big sport is robot boxing it follows one man who has a robot that could become the champ, also he finds out he has a son who he starts bonding with, enjoyable film with great robot fights and effects,Hugh Jackman gives a great performance and Evangeline Lilly is good too, nice to look at as well, recommended

Strangers On A Train, another Hitchcock classic, this is what the film title says,2 strangers on a train discuss about murder and how you can get away with it,and one of the strangers plans to murder with the other stranger's help,as always with Hitchcock, great suspense and thrills and good acting from all,the climax at the carnival is great viewing
