The comittee are plotting to put all Fifa's problems squarely on his shoulders

Soothsayer "Blatter, Blatter, be where the Ides of June"
Blatter, "Et Tu Greg Dyke"

yeah i think he's done mate. good riddance! although will platini be any better? i think the anti-english feeling will continue at fifa for a while yet.

yeah no chance of a world cup coming here for another 50 years at least

Knowing Platini he'll do the same as Blatter, screw England over but more than likely when it is Europe's turn to stage the tournament, he'll ensure Paris stages it every time and we won't get a look in.

I wonder if anyone would be strong enough to stand against Platini?

It's not a case of anyone being strong enough to stand against Platini but more a case of anyone else winning in a vote. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Blatter stays in charge. If as expected he stands for re-election he can count on the Asian, Mid East, Pacific and South American vote. Its really only in Europe where he faces tough opposition.
The whole governance structure of Fifa is riddled with corruption and needs a thorough cleansing which is unlikely in an organisation that polices itself. The best hope is that all the major sponsors withdraw funding.

the threat of Europe pulling out would make the other countries think seriously about electing blatter because europe is the cash cow any tournaments without europe would be meaning less and as Fifa make money from sponsorship and TV Rights they would be seriously fucked without the european market

RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - lovebabes56 - 11-06-2014 08:29

And how many other confederations would pull out if Europe did pull out?

RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - terence - 11-06-2014 08:35

^^^ it's irrelevant, without europe there is no world cup.

I would think then it is up to us talking to other European associations to garner enough support to force Blatter out, and ensure that the new election is carried out in a satifactory manner which fair and just. I can imagine how FIFA could be run under Platini. Doesn't even bear thinking about. Getting enough support is going to be quite a problem and certainly France won't be on board as they would be more than likely wanting to back Platini.

RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - HannahsPet - 11-06-2014 09:48

that will never happen because the smaller federations have more power than they should because of blatter. it would be like turkeys voting for xmas Wink

It doesn't actually matter what other countries think. If UEFA say they won't be in the next World Cup and will organise a European Championship for that year instead, it would put Blatter in an impossible position. But have UEFA really got the will to do something like that?
