RE: Internet Porn Site Regulation - eccles - 25-02-2015 03:37 The gummerment doesnt need to censor the internet, its doing it to itself. Yup, Blogger sites containing porn will be marked Private on 23 March and blogs created after that may be taken down if they contain porn. Thanks Goofle. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31602891 RE: Internet Porn Site Regulation - eccles - 28-02-2015 01:30 (25-02-2015 03:37 )eccles Wrote: The gummerment doesnt need to censor the internet, its doing it to itself. COMPLAINING MAKES A DIFFERENCE Quote:Google backs down over Blogger porn rule change RE: Internet Porn Site Regulation - 301 - 04-04-2015 11:39 http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/apr/04/tories-promise-to-enforce-age-limits-on-online-pornography From this it is clear the Goverment's aim is not to protect children, but to censor the internet. At the moment their is enough to protect children already, their are ISP filters that parents can turn on and also cellular internet providers like EE block by default, and you have to go to and EE shop to verify your ID to get it unblocked for example. So the only way children can access is if they routed their traffic through another country with a VPN, SSH Tunnel etc. If the Government were to force sites (including overseas ones) as proposed I doubt the sites would age verify every country so it would still be easy for children to get around this and in the end it has nothing to do with protecting children and is just a vote winner for the religious right wing types. This week UK State TV also published this : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-32115162 However you can see here that this survey is questionable http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/uk-porn-addiction-teenagers-304 It looks like the UK Government uses their state media to promote their own agenda just like they do in all the dictatorship countries. If these new plans were to go ahead it would be catastrophic for sites that get most of their revenue from UK Customers (like this one), and by the looks of it, it will go ahead as now Labour will be forced to do this aswell otherwise it would look bad on them. This new plan seems to go further than the current one which only affects on demand video sites, the new plan seems like it will affect all adult sites like forums, stream sites even if they are overseas. RE: Internet Porn Site Regulation - munch1917 - 04-04-2015 11:47 ^^^ Someone just posted about this in the Ofcom Discussion thread, I replied there RE: Internet Porn Site Regulation - circles_o_o_o - 18-04-2015 16:22 I was looking to get a preview pic from a porn site today after seeing something on twitter, but when I went there, there is a message stating that you have to provide credit card details just to see the preview items : Haven't seen this before but guess it is related to the new age-verification laws that came in recently, as detailed in earlier posts. (I declined their offer ) RE: Internet Porn Site Regulation - DB83 - 18-04-2015 16:26 ^^ That sounds suspicious. Charge a $ for a UK site ? RE: Internet Porn Site Regulation - 301 - 18-04-2015 16:28 I assume they are charging the minimum amount which is $1 not £1. RE: Internet Porn Site Regulation - Rogergilford54 - 18-04-2015 16:44 What happens if you, say for example ca'nt get a credit card but are still over eighteen? Many of the payment processors that deal with porn sites are based in US, so, if they are using one of those, it may just be easier (and cheaper) for them to process this token payment in their native currency. I seem to recall the regulator ATVOD does provide a couple of other acceptable methods of verification, but they are pretty obscure, and credit card processing is by far the easiest for most sites to implement. RE: Internet Porn Site Regulation - Tractor boy - 18-04-2015 19:11 I didn't think these new laws had started yet ? I haven't seen this message on any of the sites I use ( thankfully ) |
