Jessica Ennis-Hill has announced her retirement from Athletics

RE: Athletics - Snooks - 15-10-2016 10:52

Jess deserves to be regarded as one of the outstanding British athletes of all time.
Poster girl of London 2012. She was under intense pressure and scrutiny but delivered in fairytale fashion culminating in Super Saturday glory.
Crosses the line first in a glory run 800m and then the final act of a memorable night was her medal ceremony with the crowd singing God Save The Queen in unison.
It truly was an unforgettable evening.

Has a baby 'Reggie' and then returns a year later to claim her 2nd World Title. A remarkable feat in itself.

Always conducted herself with dignity, honour, integrity, class and fortitude and set the finest of examples for athletes of the future to follow.
An icon, a champion, a role model and an inspiration.
Thank you for the memories Jess and Happy retirement Heart.

Can't say it any better then above post. She had the looks and had the talent. She was the complete package. And conducted herself brilliantly off the track. She was well liked by the public and media. In my opinion she was the best and delivered in a greatest stage. Hats off

It has taken 10 years, but finally Jo Pavey has World Championship bronze medal - so pleased for her as she's been one of Britain's best and most consistent performing athletes for a long time

I was disappointed to read of the proposal to erase world records before 2005, it just smacks of nothing short of crazy and while I agree dope testing wasn't as strict it does break my heart to think that records set by many 'clean' athletes will not be recognised and many British athletes who were world record holders will lose their place in athletics history even though the IAAF has only hlood blood samples since 2005 and the subsequent scandals since then make me wonder if this move would only set back any trust in athletics being a clean sport further.
