Well just another update, I am still awaiting the all important letter that would allow me back onsite to work again but just to complicate matters even further I received a phone call this afternoon from the hospital asking me if I'd be ok to undergo the second operation on the 10th June which is next Wednesday.

So good news that I shall say goodbye to that pesky screw that has been pissing me off for so many months Smile This should be a very simple and straight forward operation as it's just a case of opening up the wound and removing the screw and then stitching it back up again.

I will however probably need a few more days off from work in order for it heal up again. Like I say it'll be very simple compared to the last operation in January in which they had to reconstruct my ankle so apart from a few mild scars it shouldn't really be reason for a long recovery period.

Good luck mate I still have a bar in left leg from where I broke it in two places which will be 15 years ago in October!!!

Well you must all be saying fuck me Scottishbloke is still banging on about his ankle injury laugh Right so just to let you all know I successfully had the screw removed from my ankle earlier this afternoon and when I seen it I couldn't believe how big it was, it was fucking massive Wink

I asked the surgeons if I could keep it as a souvenir but they told me that wouldn't be possible because of Health And Safety regulations, in other words blame ofcom Big Laugh

Once again I had my fair share of sexy nurses on my ward, let's just say that a few innuendo jokes were cracked between the 4 of us in that room, when the nurse said to me are you sure you are ready to go home tonight to which I responded well if you want I could always go to your place instead which was greeted with a cheeky smile Tongue

All joking apart what a massive relief it is to me to now be free of that foreign object in my ankle. To think that I had to tolerate it for all those months, I feel so much lighter on my feet once again Big Grin

I have now been signed off from work for the next 2 weeks and have to be told to take it easy and not to strain myself too much, as I have a bandage covering the scar and stitches again too which will come out in 10 days time. Thankfully this operation hasn't set me back apart from another few weeks off work.

Hopefuly this shall be the last you'll be hearing from me with regards to my ankle as I know I have truly bored the arse off the lot of you laugh

RE: Back Home After Surgery - mikedafc - 12-06-2015 16:28

Did you not take a pic of the screw or the nurses SB?

RE: Back Home After Surgery - Scottishbloke - 09-07-2015 16:27

As is customary post operation you always end up with follow up appointments. To cut a long story short I was up at the out patient clinic to see the orthopaedic doctor for the final and last time this afternoon and I asked him if it would be possible to get a few print outs of the X Rays just as a souvenir but he said it was too short notice to meet such a request. However he told me that I was more than welcome to take a picture of it if I wished.

2 X Rays here.

You will see the one on the right from the 20th January 2015 which was the X Ray that confirmed the long lay off and the one of the left from the 5th March 2015.

Please note that the big massive screw is no longer in the ankle as that was removed on the 10th June last month. Anyhow I thought it might be of some interest to post the picture to show off the extent of the damage of the fracture in all its glory Smile
