somehow me thinks this world cup has provided very little by way of shock results at the group stages...but plenty of goals!! I know it would be hard compare how many more goals this women's world cup has got compared to brazil last year...and has Blatter been spotted yet?

In Group E last night Brazil got their second win with a 1-0 victory over Spain and South Korea and Costa Rica drew 2-2. So Brazil are through as group winners but the other 3 countries all have a good chance of getting second place.

They may be going home but Ivory Coast have scored the best goal of the tournament so far.

Germany, Norway, Canada & China have qualified with Holland looking good for 1 of 4 3rd place slots to also qualify

Group A was very tight with only 9 goals in the 6 matches and the hosts Canada managed to win it despite only scoring twice. I thought New Zealand were a bit unlucky, being squeezed out in what was a very tough group.

Group B was quite different with 29 goals scored and easy progress for Germany and Norway. Today it's the turn of Groups C and D to finish. Japan should win Group C, but almost anything could happen in Group D.

There was a little surprise last night with Cameroon beating Switzerland 2-1, although I think Switzerland will still squeeze through from that group.

Group C finished with 25 goals scored in the 6 matches and Japan's 1-0 win over Ecuador made them the first team to win 3 out of 3.

Group D saw only 15 goals scored, but this was always going to be a very closely fought group. Sweden a bit unlucky I think to be drawn in such a tough group but then to go unbeaten and still not quality, as I doubt that their 3 draws will be enough to see them through.

England-Colombia is 9:00 tonight. A draw could well consign England to 3rd place in the group, so we need a win. Important

^^ Well Thailand has 3 points with worse goal difference so are out and Group E with Spain (1pt)v South Korea(1pt) and Brazil V Costa Rica(2pts) is very unlikely to provide a third place team with better goal difference than Sweden so they should be ok to qualify barring Costa Rica beating Brazil and a winner between Spain V South Korea

The commentators need to take the rose coloured glasses off, Colombia keeper clearly played the ball and they are saying clear foul.
