RE: TalkTalk Cyber attack - trevor format - 04-11-2015 14:05 Still no account access. Almost 2 weeks now. Still better to try and fix all security issues first I guess, no matter how long it takes. RE: TalkTalk Cyber attack - munch1917 - 11-11-2015 17:20 Account access STILL down! Doesn't take this long to secure against bloody sql injections, one day offline at best, sort it out TT. I finally got a letter last week (friday I think). Got a bit worried as they had said they would write to everyone who was directly affected, i.e. those who actually had their details nicked. Turns out it was just a straight copy of the latest info on the site about the attack. Nothing much, but it's the only communication I've had from them on the subject, so a small step forward. Reading today that they are planning on offering every customer a free upgrade of some sort by way of apology for their incompetence. No firm details on what this upgrade will be, or how long it will last (will it be forever, or for example, just a one year deal of some sort). Personally, I'm on the highest speed fibre package, up to 76mbs or whatever (which, incidentally, they don't appear to be offering anymore, but hard to tell for certain with the site being crippled). I'm guessing they would offer me to add the tv package to that, which is the only real upgrade option, which doesn't really interest me, so be interesting to see if I get an alternative offer, like a price reduction. RE: TalkTalk Cyber attack - bigguy01 - 11-11-2015 22:50 I can access my account, changed my password. I think a month free would be better than a "free upgrade" RE: TalkTalk Cyber attack - munch1917 - 12-11-2015 05:45 (11-11-2015 22:50 )bigguy01 Wrote: I can access my account, changed my password. Interesting, I can access the account section on one computer, but the other still just goes to the holding page. That pc is running through my VPN, so maybe they are filtering on IP addresses or something (the VPN is still a UK IP, but obviously not a talktalk IP). One month free probably wouldn't really compare to a free upgrade price wise. I'm currently on one of these half-price for however long deals, which I think runs out soon, and I go to full price. I'd be happier if they offered to extend that for the remainder of my contract period in place of an upgrade. RE: TalkTalk Cyber attack - trevor format - 14-11-2015 12:40 I got a 5th email today, and this time the update informs me that I wasn't one of those affected by the attack as my personal data and financial info were never accessed by the hackers. RE: TalkTalk Cyber attack - munch1917 - 14-11-2015 16:08 ^^^ Just got that email myself, first email I've had from them about any of this. It also gives a bit of info about the free upgrades, with 'more' at this link : http://www.talktalk.co.uk/customerupgrade/ I use the term 'more' above rather loosely, as it still doesn't give any specifics like how long does the upgrade last. The upgrade will come from Dec. 1st, so more details should emerge before then hopefully. Nothing there of any real interest to me anyhow. I may take the tv upgrade just because it's free, depending on the fine print i.e. I suspect rather than adding tv to my existing package, what it means is that you have to have the tv package already, then they give you an upgrade of one of the channel packages on that. I guess it makes their website harder to hack. RE: TalkTalk Cyber attack - admiral decker - 16-12-2015 22:54 I've taken my free Talktalk upgrade now and got free calls for a year (not that I make many outgoing calls on my landline these days, but it'll save a few pennies). |
