Tiger goes into the lead in The Masters at hole 15

RE: The Masters - lovebabes56 - 14-04-2019 19:59

Congratulations to Tiger on winning the Masters one the greatest golf comebacks and one of the great sports stories of the year

I thought it was Molinari's to lose, but I didn't expect him to do it Sad

Though I'm scarcely a fan of Tiger Woods, I give him credit for getting the job done today; Molinari seemed overawed from fairly early on, and then stuffed it twice. Not sure how he got into that mess at 15, but if he'd played it better and got a 3 or even a 4, he might still have made it.

I think it was the 9th where Tiger was on the edge of the green and played a dinky little shot that looked like nothing, and then it rolled almost to the hole. It seemed like "yeah, I do know this place like the back of my hand actually" stuff. Then he didn't panic at 10 or 11 and just waited his chance, which inevitably came. 16 really cemented the inevitable.

It was also weird to be watching it at what is more usually the time that the Open is on. I associate the Masters with struggling to keep my eyes open as it drags through the last holes, so it was nice to sit through it in daylight.

Anyway, it'll probably be seen as Tiger's greatest win.

Molinari found water twice at the 12th & the 15th. The 15th was the unluckiest one as it hit a branch of a pine tree. To even think that it has been 14 years since Tiger's last Major win and for all he has been through I think many fans doubted if we would even ever see Tiger win a Major ever again after all he has had to cope with.
Even Tiger himself admitted that he was "done with golf" at a dinner. The other amazing thing is that this win is likely to propel him back into world's top ten and maybe he can even start dreaming of breaking Nicklaus' Major record once more.

Spot on there. Ya when the rankings come out I think he will be 6th

RE: The Masters - Doddle - 15-04-2019 08:15

It is plausible that he just goes in for Majors now, there's no need to compete in anything else, he must have more money than would justify it.

I thought Padraig Harrington did OK on his commentary stuff, unlike Peter "oh look there's Tiger's Mum... oh look there's Tiger's Mum... oh look there's Tiger's Mum... oh look etc" Alliss, who needs to be pushed into the water himself quietly pensioned off.

^If You was Molinari at the 15th what would you have done?

As I say, I don't know how he got to that point where he hit the shot into the water (via a tree), so I can't rewind time to guess.

He looked a bit overawed from early on in the round to me, as though he was just hanging in as long as he could.
