Hameed isn't fit to open the batting so Joe Roots been brought up the order.

A dismal day for England - the worst day of the series so far. India were just so much better with both bat and ball.
With Hameed not opening the batting, Ali was promoted to No3 and has now batted in tests at all positions from 1-9.

Once again.
Lack of first innings runs are costing England dear. They had no excuses.
They won the toss and batted first on a perfectly decent pitch and chucked too many wickets away.
They look likely to pay a heavy price.

Yes that first morning was England's main disaster area. A decent pitch but 4 wickets down by lunch.
The latest on the 4th morning after resuming on 78/4 is 107/6. After not opening the innings, Hameed is just coming in to bat at No 8.
