Cap 4 or a second season makes sense, you can't have endings like this and not follow it up somewhere.

This video explains some of the strange editing, and a whole subplot that had to be cut from the final show.
Maybe in a few years we will get a "Snyder cut" of the the show the way it was originally meant to be aired.
