A whole load of Brits in action on day two including Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu.
Both have tough draws though.

RE: Australian Open - Charlemagne - 18-01-2022 09:04

Andy Murray digs in and wins his opening match in 5 sets.

RE: Australian Open - Charlemagne - 20-01-2022 13:14

Emma Raducanu had a blister on her hitting hand which affected her grip.
What I saw of her match this affected the power of her hitting.

Andy Murray looked pretty listless as he plodded to an inevitable defeat.

Heather Watson lost too.

But Dan Evans prevailed... thanks to a walkover.

Murray sadly was knackered, to be expected. Raducanu fought hard through the pain, Kovinic was just too good.

I saw Simona Halep ruthlessly thrash Beatriz Haddad Maia for the loss of just two games - 6-2, 6-0 and Daniil Medvedev fight to victory against Nick Kyrgios, and a partizan home crowd. The Russian world number 2 won 7-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Barty, Osaka, Ostapenko and Azarenka play tonight in the women's, while the men's cast list includes Zverev, Nadal, Shapovalov and Berrettini.

Ostapenko and Osaka were amongst today's casualties.

RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 22-01-2022 19:30

All British singles interest in mens and womens now gone with the rather tame exit of Dan Evans in straight sets.

RE: Australian Open - Doddle - 22-01-2022 22:27

A good thing we can still follow the Doubles then.

RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 23-01-2022 09:00

Impressive straight sets win for Denis Shapovalov over Alexander Zverev to set up a clash with Rafael Nadal who also won in straight sets.

In the womens draw French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova stormed past Victoria Azarenka while Madison Keys thrashed Paula Badosa.

Barty through again. A couple of Brits left in Doubles, and also in the Juniors.
