Kirby's more ginger Huh & bowls faster Important but yes there's a slight facial resemblance.
One of my all-time favourite cricketers, & a Yorkshire legend, despite being from Bury. Smile

Could not agree more with that!! No issue if a team is able to rack up 400 - 500 if the pitch is not handing those runs to the team. In fact, such an innings would - if the conditions were slightly in the bowlers favour (if sufficient skills on show) stand - out - both as a team total and obviously, the individual scores that would be compiled in contributing towards achieving it!

Fantastic win, & a masterful innings by Root, passing 10,000 Test Match runs in the process, Cook being the only other England player, & just 14 in total. A match winning knock, which took the Man of the Match away from Potts, who had a very accomplished debut, with 7 wickets.

England have retained Parkinson for the 2nd Test at Trent Bridge on Friday, in an otherwise unchanged squad.

This would be a good series win

^Far from over yet! Small margins in the opening match, and had NZ taken every opportunity presented (including spurning the IPL appearances - as you might have hoped world champion players would have done) a very different outcome perhaps. England were worthy winners, but they will know - much more work left to do!

de Grandhomme has been ruled out for the rest of the series with a heel injury. Offspinner Allrounder Michael Bracewell has been added to their squad.
