Alan Bates:
"Post Office spent 23 years trying to discredit subpostmasters"

Major Post Office figures giving evidence over the next few working days.

The guy on the stand at present looks totally uncompetant. He's getting ripped to shreads by the committee.

I've found it compulsive viewing, I'm most impressed with KC Jason Beer's patience. Important

I have two questions: Firstly, why were sub-postmasters prosecuted concerning financial irregulaties whereas Alan Bates was just dismissed?
Secondly, has anybody as yet been able to demonstrate precisely how Horizon caused data to be recorded incorrectly?

Bates had solved most of the irregularities at his own branch, by finding issues such as duplicated transactions. So it wouldn't have been realistic to prosecute him.

Yes but it wasn't just one single problem. Several bugs in the software have been discovered which caused data to be recorded incorrectly.

Hearing Angela Van der Bogerd's terstimony It strikes me her testimony has been one to defend the Post Office. It find it staggering that she claimed she saw but 'never received' emails about the system.

Just fuck off already annoyed.

Well said mate. Worse actor than Oscar Pistorius.

I bet her tears were more over her giving up her honour more than for the injustices she oversaw.

I'd be far happier when the Met finally catches up with her. If she had any sense of honour she could have brought the prosecutions to a halt with a single stroke of a pen.

Let's face it, No computer software is going to be perfect no matter what any developer says. You can have all the bells and whistles you want but deep within the coding, there are bugs hidden that probably only come to light once you start looking withiin the programme itself.
I'd say that the develiopers never properly solved or eradicated the bugs before release and to me there are pepole at Fujitsu who need to be answering questions too.
I get the feeling Horizon was riddled with them when it was acquired, and certainly there probably Goverment IT experts who found them but kept quiet as they didn't want to spend time and money clearing them out.

I do think when the final report comes out, it is going to be just as damning as the contaminated blood one and then the real crux of it all will be: - just how many will finally face prosecution because of it.
Not only that you wonder if there would be just as many repercussions felt within the Japanese Government I just wonder how much they knew.
