When the Guardian stick the boot in you know there's a problem...

But as long as the ToolMaker's son gets his freebies, who cares if he rips £300 out of Pensioner's pockets because according to some on here, they're all loaded. I work in Social Housing, I know exactly who the real scroungers are and it's not the pensioners.

Wasted money that fucks up our economic existence.
Nobody is ever held accountable and each generation is left in more debt and misery.
Our history books tell us that we fought for our freedom ....and won.
Yet here we are welcoming boats filled with people that have no interest in what we fought for and the sacrifices our country made.
Government are allowing our country to turn to shit. Spending billions of pounds on hotel bills and funding immigrants to stay here.
I won't elaborate any further in case I hurt anyone's feelings and get accused of anything.

It is true, our governments have been and are still going to be spending a stupid amount of money accomadating people coming here illegally. The problem we have seen, is that nobody is willing to really fix anything, for example, sending people off to Rwanda for a big bag of cash, that was the stupidest waste of fucking money and it was an obvious way to try hide the problem, which fixes exactly nothing. Blaming the people coming here also fixes nothing, some have no choice and I have sympathy for them, it's not exactly a fun trip or holiday. It's very risky. Governments let it happen, they are at fault.
Governments need to work together to fix the problems at source, they need to find solutions to stop people tavelling on boats in the first place, stop the people profiting off this misery and actually help those that need it. We all know it, so why can't they find a way to do it, yes it will be complicated, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't try.

^ I totally Agree Skully it is about bloody time Goverments stopped wringing their hands and thinking the problem will disappear by itself, (that won't work), - and worked together, but the problem comes down to goverments allocating cash to possibly create some kind of police force or centre where indiviual international police forces can meet or share information on thos responsible. The real hard bit is actually tracking them down and I think then, there the problem of under which international law can you arrest them on - and what international warrant would you ned to enforce that arrest and where do you try them?

Anyone agree about the govt's decision to cut the Winter Fuel Allowance...?

No. Especially when they are going to continue to pay the expats in the EU.
Pensioners have to freeze in the UK and pensioners in Spain will still get it.

It's a fucking joke, they're so far showing themselves to be red tories when it comes to welfare, which is not a good thing for anyone.

This is why I didn't vote Labour, to me they're just tories with a different colour (red instead of blue) and are using the same rhetoric etc as the tories used over past 14yrs

Angela Rayner apparently, as she was on BBC Breakfast defending it this morning even though she attacked May's Government when they were supposedly planning to scrap it years ago...she didn't look happy when one of her old Tweets was shown to her Big Laugh

actually its a good idea in principle 10 million pensioners age concern say only 2 million really need it in some form either by pension credit or the warm homes scheme could be extended

and its just not pensioners that struggle with fuel poverty the disabled and other working groups with children also struggle to pay bills

As anything to do with goverments they always balls up the execution of any plan

whats the betting they get a huge inflation busting pension increase in the budget to make up for it

and someone needs to work out what the word scrapping means !!! scrapping means getting rid altogether not reducing the people who are eligible for it
