If you consider the early finish on day 5 of the 1st test, this is a day 6 pitch. We are into unknown territory in terms of the extent of deterioration we might see & at what point. You would imagine England will need to bat beyond whatever Pakistan achieve in their first innings as batting last could be a lottery.

318 is decent, but a lot now depends on how the pitch behaves from here on in. We have to hope our lads play sensibly and wisely wiythout taking too many risks, I doubt we would look to score 800+ again lol def woild be happy around 550-575 then hope we get them them out cheaply second time around.

Despite losing what turned out to be an important toss, I would point to the fact that England managed to bat 100.5 overs in their 2 innings. England would argue that overs are irrelevant & scoring rate is all important, but given the fact that there was in excess of 4 sessions to play, batting for longer would've made this contest closer.
