RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Joannis - 19-12-2025 07:28 This tournament is the cutoff for the World Grand Prix, and only the top 32 in the one year list are eligible for that one. Among them will be Chang Bingyu, who defeated Kyren 4-1 and shoots to no.29 on the 1YL. What a fantastic comeback season for him after his ban! Mark Allen made a decisive 58 break in the decider to beat Zhang Anda 4-3. Zhou Yuelong made a 133 break in the decider to beat Stuart Bingham 4-3. Mark Selby looked invincible. Runs of 94, 104 and 71 helped Selby whitewash Noppon without letting him pot a ball. My man to watch Jiang Jun beat Thepchaiya 4-1. Quarter final lineup: Chris Wakelin vs Zhou Yuelong Jiang Jun vs Matthew Selt Chang Bingyu vs Mark Selby Mark Allen vs Joe O’Connor RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Doddle - 19-12-2025 13:37 Fair dos. Jiang Jun is really holding up his end of your attempts to promote him. Nice to see a few lesser lights reaching the later stages. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 19-12-2025 19:04 The Scottish Open throwing up so many surprises again this year. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Joannis - 20-12-2025 07:26 Chang Bingyu did it! He got the upset against Mark Selby! Selby has won the last 2 tournaments he's entered, but Chang put an end to Selby's winning streak, winning the last 2 frames with runs of 95 and 77 to win 5-3. Matthew Selt is having a bit of renaissance. He's had some coaching from Chris Henry, and has been practicing with John Higgins, and with runs of 104, 92, 54 and 56, he beat Jiang Jun 5-2. Jiang has had a fine run in this tournament and hopefully, he can build from that. Selt can get in the top 32 on the 1 YL at the expense of Jak Jones if he gets to the final. Chris Wakelin is trying to revive his season after being knocked out of the top 16. He beat Zhou Yuelong 5-3. Mark Allen beat Joe O'Connor. Semi finals: Chris Wakelin v Matthew Selt Chang Bingyu v Mark Allen RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 20-12-2025 11:58 What a fascinating pair of semi finals. There is something about this event. It just keeps providing endless intrigue. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Doddle - 20-12-2025 21:09 Selt put up a good fight, but Wakelin's 3-0 lead proved enough to see him across the line 6-4. To give him his due, he did knock McGill out earlier in the week. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Joannis - 20-12-2025 22:37 The other semi was a bit more one-sided. With runs of 134, 108, 67, 68 and 57, Chang Bingyu thrashed Mark Allen 6-1. It would be great if Chang were go on and win it! RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Doddle - 21-12-2025 13:22 I shall be hoping for Chang; Wakelin's post-match chat yesterday about his pneumonia and one-year-old daughter certainly give him some backstory if it's him. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Joannis - 21-12-2025 20:55 The final turned out to be a bit of an anti-climax as Chris Wakelin took 8 frames in a row from 2-1 down to win 9-2, putting Chang out of his misery with a break of 104 in the 11th frame. Wakelin wasn't playing that great, but Chang was missing so many easy balls that he would have potted earlier in the week. Congratulations to Chris Wakelin for winning his first proper ranking tournament. At least he can say he's won something other than the snooker shootout. |
