At 1pm the board were supporting him, but it was released to the press that he was sacked at 2pm this afternoon.

Yes it seems so. Former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman says Hiddink will be the new manager.
Kezman is quoted in Croatian media. “I don’t know if it has been officially confirmed yet, but Hiddink just told me he was the new coach.”
