RE: HALL OF FAME Discussion Thread - Goodfella3041 - 28-12-2025 19:32 Damn, I was working on a diabolical Trumpian plan… I was going to volunteer to run it. I would invite suggestions for the next 11 months. And then — abiding by the rule that the organiser gets to choose the format — I was going to abandon all nominations, votes and competitions and just induct two of my favourites. But, on reflection, the Snooks solution sounds much more sensible! Good luck, mate
RE: HALL OF FAME Discussion Thread - Snooks - 28-12-2025 19:45 Good evening. The value of Hall of Fame can never be overstated. It holds deep resonance and significance for so many on this forum. It really matters to people. I recognise that. This competition has sailed through some choppy waters over the years. I recognise that too. It broke my heart to think of all the toil, trial and tribulation this thing has been through and all those that have felt some unfortunate repercussions of debate that has at times been quite intense. I know how much heart and soul Charlemagne and Lovebabes56 put into this competition. I think a debt of gratitude is owed to both. Not merely for their hard work but the fact they resolutely kept going in the face of some tough and emotionally charged moments of adversity. They kept the soul of this comp alive. Whatever has happened in the HOF past. Whatever the debate that went on as to the hows, why's and wherefores. Hall of Fame sustained and it lives on. I pay wholesome tribute to Charle and Lovebabes for this being the case. Thank you both. For better or for worse and with no shortage of trepidation I step forward to take on the challenge of running this if you will allow me. I do so with the best of intentions. Ordinarily I would never have volunteered to return to competition running duties. But a sense of duty dictated I must step forward and humbly accept this most awesome of responsibility with the support of the moderation committee. My intent is to do this on a two year interim basis in the hope that my format template can prove workable and be used by a successor in future years. I would be looking to relinquish control after the end of the 2027 event. The format needs to be bullet proof and robust from the very start. The beginning of anything new sets the tone for it's development, it's evolution and judgements upon it's validity and fairness. I hope, with your collective support we can steer this ship to calmer waters and I pledge to do all I can to achieve that goal. I will be monitoring views expressed on this thread to help formulate a coherent tournament strategy. From February onwards, after a break from forum posting activity I will also invite opinions on key points of concern as I go. The 2026 event will commence on 26th July. The forum's birthday no less. Let's work collaboratively and make Hall of Fame worthy of all of us being in it let alone just the babes. We can do it and we will. Together. Kind regards, Snooks RE: HALL OF FAME Discussion Thread - The Silent Majority - 29-12-2025 14:39 Feels like we have Yoda in charge now
RE: HALL OF FAME Discussion Thread - Doctor P - 29-12-2025 14:58 Maybe we need four categories to enter each years HoF Ex-daytime, Ex Nightshow, current daytime and current nights Four inductees each year one from each category. RE: HALL OF FAME Discussion Thread - verybadroger - 29-12-2025 20:24 ^ Double the work, but I agree that that would be fantastic. RE: HALL OF FAME Discussion Thread - Goodfella3041 - 30-12-2025 08:53 “Ex-“ anything in a babe show context is a fungible concept though. How many short-lived retirements have there been? Louisa / Sabrina / Alexandra seems to “retire” at least once a year. Who thought they’d ever see Sara Matty again? I hear that even Camilla Jayne might be making a comeback. And then you have quasi-retirements like Gemma Hiles and Lucy Ann. Okay, so they aren’t on TV anymore — but they are still very active on OF and social media, and thus still fresh in the memory and front-of-mind. If we’ve learned anything from past iterations of this process it is our unfailing ability to make any subjective criterion the subject of endless heated debate — and babeshow “retirement” seems like a highly subjective criterion to me. By contrast, there is nothing subjective about the date she started. It is a matter of record and an objective, verifiable fact. So a date-defined cut-off seems a much simpler solution. Maybe a bespoke “legends” category only open for anyone who debuted before 20xx? Had that a couple of years ago. Not sure why it wasn't carried on. I expect if I trawled back through the thread, there'd be a bone of contention somewhere
RE: HALL OF FAME Discussion Thread - Tumble_Drier - 30-12-2025 13:16 Length of Service should be a minor consideration, the general idea of a HOF is to honour someone who is considered to have made an outstanding contribution. If we have to start fannying around checking when someone started and / or finished twiddling a phone on TV, then it ceases to be fun and won't be worth bothering with. RE: HALL OF FAME Discussion Thread - The Silent Majority - 30-12-2025 13:42 I don't think it's about length of service (I've been shot down for that already). It's more about getting babes in who do deserve it, while there's still people here who actually remember them. |
