Shocking decision to end Pietersons England career, making him a scapegoat when pretty much everybody had a disastrous tour is disgusting. The teams failure was down to poor organisation, selection and complacent management.

So that's Flower, Pietersen and Swann all gone. Cook still hangs on to the captaincy though.

The decision to effectively terminate the international career of Kevin Pietersen is a bold call. If the reasoning behind it is that he has been a consistent divisive and troublesome influence in the dressing room SINCE his so called reintegration into the England set up then I am sure there a lot of people including me who want specific details as to what exactly he has said or done wrong.
In my opinion it simply is not good enough to sweep it under the carpet, declare it as 'In House' and therefore as top secret information.
Why? Because he is England's most talented player of this generation and perhaps of any other and because he represents England and therefore the English public, a lot of whom would have regarded watching Pietersen bat as a key factor in parting with their money to watch an England match.
It is in the national and public interest that the secrecy is removed. To be honest if certain peoples confidentiality is breached the unless the law prevents certain information being disclosed I say hard cheese. All the facts should come out.
If he is being dropped permanently for other reasons then I would like to know what those reasons are.
This is one occasion where fudging and hiding information just will not do imo.
Pietersen has his faults like a lot of sporting geniuses of the past have had and current ones currently have. Another in a long line of flawed geniuses.

It's not a surprise is it? Pietersen not being in the recent ODIs/T20s was an indication of the way things were going.

This is as good an indication that Giles is to be the man to lead England in all formats, otherwise a new coach may be happy to work with KP & England don't play any Test cricket until June so why rush this announcement.

We need answers as to why they have ended his International career. The management are admitting that they can't control our most talented player. The only hint in the statement was the bit about rebuilding not only the team, but the team ethic.

Giles is not the man to take England forward, he is not forward thinking enough and far too negative in his tactics.

My main thoughts are for what ever reason the ECB are doing this the reasons they have stated don't stand up. I really don't think we are being told the whole story.

Building for the future is fine but the much like the spin department the cupboard looks a bit empty at the moment. Cook will probably hang on to the captaincy as again their are not many other contenders at present.

The future may be bright but not for English Cricket in the foreseeable.

We're being told that none of the other England players wanted Pietersen around, so it looks like within the England camp he had zero support.

Pietersen is believed to sorting out a settlement over his central contract with England.

I would suspect Surrey would not mind having his service this season for free whilst he is being paid by the ECB. However more likely some sort of deal will be done to free him up for the various domestic T20 comp across the globe.
