I wasn't picking it apart, i was just stating a different point of view, trying to be constructive and also try to open up the debate from it being 1 sided. You're taking things personally again Hexit if you think that. A great number of people prefer to have consoles for games and PC's for the rest. I'm one of those people, and from what i have seen in this thread, so are most of the posters.

You can get an Xbox Elite with COD5 for £180 in game at the moment. I bought COD5 for £25 online the week it came out. If we're talking about minimum payments on PC parts, then minimum payment for the Xbox with COD is £129 with the console, £25 for the game, thats just over half the price than the basic PC part upgrades.

Plus your parts upgrade is all just down to assumption, for some people may need more than that, they might need whole new PCs.

Your stats on worldwide RROD's is just down to guesstimations tho. And like i said, faulty PC's prob outnumber that by more.

In my experience, even on good PC's, the games crash much much more than they do on consoles. The community on the xbox seems much more tangable than on PC's and we have user generated content for free on Guitar Hero and Rock Band. We have DLC for GTA coming out sometime this year, and there will be map packs for COD i presume too.

not disputing the content. just dont think the consoles have anything to offer now. 3 years ago yeah pc's wernt a match but today even a laptop can match a console and you can do so much more with a lappy. if i was gona plump for a console it would probably be the ps3 as it has 2 titles coming i would actualy play killzone and gt5. the xbox has 1 in gears. but for me they are the only reason id get 1. all the multiplat tiltles look and play so much better on even my meager pc and its in its 3rd years old now and it cost less than a console + hdtv.

yer right about the pc being unstable but only for though that dont understand them, i personaly have very few gripes but most come from microsofts lazy attitude to programming its o.s. rather than the hardware.

I'm not a massive hardcore gamer, so a console is much better, plus my PC can't really take games in its current state and i can't afford to upgrade, so the xbox does me just fine. Some of the games i like aren't multiplat, or they come out on the xbox first, or I just find they have better online bits, like COD4&5, GTA, Rock Band and Guitar Hero, they're the only ones I play and I find they're just better on the xbox.

I find that most the games that crash are down to the games, not cos people don't understand them. I find that quite condescending to the general user really. Some games are less problematic after a few patches and whatnot and some just work off the bat, its an all round thing.

RE: 360 or PS3 - HEX!T - 02-02-2009 13:28

well i pretty much know my pc inside out and the majority of the problems do lie with the o.s. vista is a pig on resorces. and is the biggest probem with games.

well i cant agree with cod4-5 and gta being better on the xbox, the auto aim feature is tantamount to a cheat in my eyes, they would have done themselfs a huge favour if they got ridd of it and offerd mouse support instead.

my avaerge kills on cod4 bog is 150 i was lucky to get 15 on xbox, its not that the game is harder coz it isnt. its just the controller is badly configured for intuative play. but i guess thats more to not realy wanting to play the game with a controller as it just isnt fast enough or accurate enough to my eye to be effective.

as for condecending. nah its a known fact most pc buyers take the word of the guy selling them the hardware, most realy dont have a clue how they work. and its the reason why consoles have such market share even with inferiour
hardware. with a console you know theres a standard, pc's not so much.

so as i finish this (coz i got go out) id say if you know pc's and want the best from yer games then upgrade. if your not so tech minded and are willing to settle on lesser hardware, or just want that pick up and play factor then go for a console...

Personally i have no problems with vista, been running it since the first beta, had no problems with it in all that time, no crashes, nothing. XP has big issues with my Wifi for no apparent reason, from basic install of XP it won't authenticate, but with Vista, it works straight away.

As far as i know, the PC version has auto aim on both games too. I much prefer the controllers for COD and GTA, they just work much better for me. As for your differences with kills on COD, thats more likely to be just down to the fact that you prefer using a mouse and comfortable with it, everyone has they're own preferences, i've seen people with a great amount of kills on a controller.

I know my PC's, been building them from scratch since i was 12, am very tech minded, i prefer the console, cos thats what i have it for, i prefer nice simple stick the disc in and play with less issues, my pc is for surfing, videos, 3D animation, Photoshop and all that.

i think you generalise a bit too much, cos i think a lot of techie people will choose a console for gaming rather than a PC. I have a friend who's wired his whole house up with speakers, flat screens in each room, his living room is a cinema, pretty much the whole house can be controlled with a remote, high def projector with a screen that drops down, the whole works and He has games running on a console not the PC, pretty much for the reasons i have mentioned. This is a guy who has a server in his attic that has about 10TB of hard drive space (No idea why so much!). Like I say, everyone has their personal preferences.

**As far as i know, the PC version has auto aim on both games too.** no m8 it dosent. as for the rest i can agree on some points but others nah...

RE: 360 or PS3 - Shandy - 02-02-2009 14:58

It does on COD 5, i just checked it. Dunno about GTA, but considering its just a port, i would think so.

and a friend just told me that GTA does have auto aim online, if the people that set the game up choose it, he doesn't know about single player off hand. But the online thing is exactly the same as xbox, Auto Aim can be on or off depending on who sets the game up.

RE: 360 or PS3 - *Kal-El* - 02-02-2009 15:08

i've never been that keen on vista myself.

RE: 360 or PS3 - Shandy - 02-02-2009 15:13

i dunno what it is, but for me, its been the most reliable and least problematic OS i have had since 98 lol. XP was good until it hated my Wifi. I love W7, but it has the same issue with my wifi as XP weirdly!!

RE: 360 or PS3 - jungleboy - 02-02-2009 15:34

I am one of the few that actually enjoys using Vista. Xp was very frigid, and didn't like a lot of things. The only thing i don't like about vista is the fact that ie7 is shite on it. Firefox is a little better, but not that much. I get the same problem on my laptop and my desktop so it's not a pc issue.
On the pc to xbox issue. I prefer driving games on the xbox, and shooting games and ra games on the pc. But will buy it on either if it is cheap enough.
