Exactly right mellover.

"Gary Speed was not depressed and had not argued with his wife before being found hanged at his home, according to a close friend. The Wales manager’s agent and best man Hayden Evans said: ‘They were happily married and anyone who knows them will tell you that. This is why it is a mystery. We genuinely at the moment have no clue whatsoever what has caused it.’ When asked if Speed had suffered bouts of depression, Mr Evans said ‘none whatsoever’. He added: ‘The one thing the family and me as one of his closest friends would totally refute is that. There was no indication of any problems and never has been’. Speed appeared happy as he left the BBC studios in Salford on Saturday afternoon after filming Football Focus and his widow Louise is utterly bewildered by his suspected suicide."

Which is exactly why it makes it so bizarre that the Police say the death isn't suspicious yet we're meant to swallow that.

I'm actually really sad about the whole thing, I have no affiliation with Gary Speed or any of the clubs he has played for, but he was a fantastic player and one of the best role models you could ask for. There is a big question mark over the whole thing, his friends and family can't work it out.Huh

Gary Speed, an ultimate pro. This is the last ever picture of him, taken with a fan only a few hours before he died.

Doesn't look a depressed man to me, that's a big natural smile.

The rumour going around on some of our boards is that a red top was about to out him as been gay.

If that is at all true, the red top in question has got alot to answer for

Of course though this is just rumour, I've yet to see any proof of this claim

I have in fact heard the same rumour. However like you mention, it is just that with no evidence.
As angry as I'd be if it was true, the guy in question was sadly just feeding the general public the horse shit they so desperately crave. I'm all for true investigative journalism like the betting scams, however it is sickening the lengths people will go to to get a story and sickening how others will soak it up like a sponge.

RE: RIP Gary Speed - Schizoid Man - 30-11-2011 19:46

Several people mentioned depression, but this does seem like a case of chronic depression where the sufferer can see no way out and takes the tragic decision to kill himself. All the evidence points to some kind of catastrophic incident occurring in the night before the suicide. When someone is held in high esteem by the public, anything negative would be felt as catastrophic, as if there would be no way of ever repairing the damage which would be done. I feel certain that something specific happened in the hours before the tragic act and it is only a matter of time before the truth comes out.

The day that Gary Speed was found dead the newspapers were busy tweeting the news, which you would expect of course. Except for the Daily Star that is, as the Star strangely ignored the subject, although they did make other football-related tweets that day. bladewave

I keep seeing this quote everywhere and to me personally it just does not make sense....

Quote:The inquest heard that police were not treating the death as suspicious

His body was found at 7a.m Sunday morning. Does that in itself not seem a little suspicious ? 7am in the morning at his home. Shouldn't he be in bed with his wife? Seems a little bit sus' to me... What ever happened and whatever the reasons football has lost one of the good guys Sad
