Notts through to the YB40 final after thrashing Somerset.Should be an interesting final against Glamorgan who beat the favourites Hampshire on Saturday.

Lords Final Saturday 21st September

Yorkshire,Leicestershire & England bowler Matthew Hoggard announced his retirement from First-Class Cricket yesterday. His last game will be the Championship match against Leicestershire V Hampshire on September 17.

One of the very best swing bowlers in County Cricket & at International level,an unsung hero, a real workhorse.

Aside from his cricketing achievements I will remember him for calling Tony Blair a knob during the 2005 Ashes celebrations.

Re- Matthew Hoggard .
Not to mention his recent appearance on Masterchef .He mixed up all the ingredients for his Shepherds Pie in the sink !
Classy or what ?

Excellent bowler. I wish him well in his retirement. I have seen him play for Leicester sadly in the twilight of his career but he was still effective then and remember seeing his exploits for England (although not on Master Chef) on TV.

Yesterday another 2005 Ashes hero Simon Jones announced his retirement from First Class & List A at the end of the season, although he would like to continue in T20 cricket. He will get a big stage a week on Saturday at Lords when Glamorgan take on Notts in the CB40 Final.

If only he had stayed fit he could have been a dominant force at Test Match level.

Sadly looks likely that the rain will be the only winner in most of the latest round of county games. Such a pity.

Durham bowl Derbyshire out for 63 in their 2nd innings & require 37 to win.

Unless Yorkshire can chase an improbable 300 in 64 overs the Div 1 Championships is almost in Durhams hands.

Yorkshire V Sussex match drawn as rain ends play early.

Meanwhile in Division 2 Essex "promotion push" stalls in the gloom at Canterbury as game ends in a draw.

RE: County Cricket 2013 Season - Boomerangutangangbang - 14-09-2013 19:34

With Essex only managing a draw at Kent,Lancashire are promoted to Div 1 after a draw against Leicestershire,Bouncing straight back up after last years relegation.
