RE: The Open - Doddle - 20-07-2019 20:15 I'm sure newspaper sub-editors are planning "WORK OF ART FOR LOWRY" type headlines for tomorrow. The BBC's helpful plugging of Tommy Fleetwood last week hasn't backfired for once. Should be a good day for Europe again (fingers crossed). RE: The Open - hornball - 21-07-2019 10:16 I hope Royal Portrush responds today! It was always my fear that in benign conditions, they would kill her stone dead. Lowery did that for sure yesterday, and although I don't wish him poor luck, or a poor round today, we need to see some difficulties thrown the way of the eventual winner and see him a worthy champion by overcoming them!! Was becoming a little raucous yesterday from a small number of spectators. Casey and Lowery reacted badly to a couple of things. Put a lid on it today, and let the world see the very best we have to offer!! Just a personal plea...can we please find a sound proof booth for radar?? RE: The Open - Snooks - 21-07-2019 10:46 What is needed is pouring rain and 50mph winds blowing in all manner of directions. That would scupper em . I think I agree with that!! I am saddened to listen to too many voices In the sky comm box hope for more calm conditions - presumably because they believe more and more birdies/eagles etc is what people want to see flying in left, right and centre. I believe they are wrong, and like the U.S. Open, I hope and believe that the R&A don't want such an outcome. Sorry, but for the big bucks, need to present a few difficult hurdles to 'jump' Royal Portfrush is often shrouded in cloud and rain as you might imagine. Links golf needs it! RE: The Open - Doddle - 21-07-2019 20:27 Well, Lowry got it done yesterday really, much like Tom Lehman back in the day (and maybe other examples), so Well Done to him. Rather a lot of waffle about "oh an Irish winner, the island of Ireland, a true Irish hero transcending the two countries, like Barry McGuigan etc". Fleetwood only needed to stay ahead of any challengers to be 2nd. A good top 10 from the European POV, and even then still 4 US guys in it. Molinari didn't really give much of a defence, but he did well today. Sad for some who had nightmares like Justin Rose and especially JB Holmes, from 66 on Thursday to an 87 today. I heard the last hour or so on 5live, improved from last year. RE: The Open - Doddle - 09-07-2021 07:14 Back at Sandwich from next Thursday RE: The Open - Doddle - 12-07-2021 12:58 Hideki Matsuyama had to withdraw because he's got covid, and Bubba Watson is out because a contact has covid. RE: The Open - Snooks - 12-07-2021 15:37 I'm having an each way bet on Matthew Fitzpatrick at 40/1. RE: The Open - Boomerangutangangbang - 15-07-2021 19:51 Oosthuizen leads after round 1 at -6 with Spieth & Harman on -5. Best placed Brits at -3 are Sullivan, Willet, Rose, Fleetwood & Senior. Casey is -2 & Mcllroy Even Par. RE: The Open - Snooks - 16-07-2021 00:57 Surely Oosthuizen isn't going to finish 2nd yet again in a major. Is he |
