RE: England V Australia 2013-14 Ashes - ODI & T20 Series - Boomerangutangangbang - 20-07-2013 01:38 ^ Bresnan hasn't played enough Test yet to say whether he's an alrounder or not,he's only batting at No.8 you can'c count the Nightwatchman's role.He has a better First Class & Test average with the bat than Broad & Swann which is why he bats above them,Broad is starting to bat with more control & has a Test hundred to his nameproving he can do it. In the 2nd innings at Trent Bridge KP showed that he can play responsibly,Today he was back to his worst, trying to impose himself when he should have tried to get to close of play only 2 wickets down, they may as well of sent Bresnan in before KP he had more chance of lasting. RE: England V Australia 2013-14 Ashes - ODI & T20 Series - mickster - 20-07-2013 01:48 Anything over 350 will be too much for Australia ,I reckon. Re. DRS reviews :Players have got to realise they were introduced to allow appeals for OBVIOUS wrong decisions and not for gambling .i.e."I definitely got a nick before the ball hit my pads ". Not For"I wonder if the umpire might just be wrong and I'llget a reprieve". I know the 3umpires used so far in this series have so far made some howlers ,but generally most on field umpires get the vast majority of the decisions right .It's just a shame the only neutral elite panel umpires available are these .Oh well ,I suppose the next thing will be DRS reviews for all wickets . (107 & 80n.o.- won by 9wkts ,if memory serves) RE: England V Australia 2013-14 Ashes - ODI & T20 Series - mickster - 20-07-2013 02:25 Re England not enforcing follow-on. 4days at Lords complete sell out .If it finishes in 3days they have to refund 4th day ticket holders .Never underestimate the cynical ploy .How many times do they manage to bowl the minimum 25 overs to avoid paying out on a days play lost to bad weather ? I think not enforcing the follow on was the correct decision. With so much time left in the match, England have correctly taken the third innings and let Australia bat in the fourth. I think it's a logical decision. As for the ECB's refund policy, they have an insurance policy to fully cover them for lost days so therefore refunding the paying public on a possible lost day here wouldn't be a problem for them. RE: England V Australia 2013-14 Ashes - ODI & T20 Series - Rammyrascal - 20-07-2013 10:33 think if England can get a lead of at least 350 then they should win the match RE: England V Australia 2013-14 Ashes - ODI & T20 Series - Boomerangutangangbang - 20-07-2013 12:01 Sensible batting by the Yorkshire pair in the first hour up to drinks as England extend the lead beyond 300. England 70-3 RE: England V Australia 2013-14 Ashes - ODI & T20 Series - Boomerangutangangbang - 20-07-2013 18:50 England lead Australia by 566 runs as they close day 3 on 333-5 with Joe Root 178 not out.He added 99 for the 4th wicket with Bresnan 38 & put on 153 for the 5th wicket with Bell 74..The 6th wicket partnership with Bairstow has so far added 51 with no signs of a declaration. RE: England V Australia 2013-14 Ashes - ODI & T20 Series - Rammyrascal - 20-07-2013 18:54 think England will start tomorrow batting to see if joe root will get 200 as soon as he does or if he gets out England will declare.
