I don't know why Onions wasn't picked, when his form merited a place. Maybe it's felt that he wouldn't do so well on Australian wickets?

That certainly seem to be the view that they wanted to take lots of tall bowlers who would hit the deck. I agree that Onions form did merit a place but I suppose it was felt this was in English conditions where the ball moves off the pitch and swings a lot which would not happen so frequently down under.

Yes the thinking of the selectors is all to do with what wickets they expect England to face in Australia. I'm expecting Tremlett to get the nod, but we'll know soon enough as the first test starts tomorrow night. Remember the first ball of the series at Brisbane in 2006? Steve Harmison's delivery was so wide it was taken by second slip.

Can't wait for the cricket to begin, getting a bit tired of all the childish trash-talk.

Massive 2nd wicket for Broad as he dismisses Watson just before lunch 71-2.After losing the toss England will be the happier side.

Australia need to get 400 on this wicket, but look what's happened now! Clarke is out leaving them on 73/3.

Edit: And now Warner's gone as well, 83/4. All 4 wickets to Broad.

Edit: And now Bailey's gone, 100/5. A wicket for Anderson. Australia in serious trouble.
