No idea where the timeline is though.
If William had aged from being a young man to quite an old one wouldn't Hopkins have been dead? Unless Hopkins is the other man he entered Westworld with, but he was American.
It will all come out in the wash.

It's two different timelines, you see Hopkins/ Dr Ford character when his much younger in flashbacks when his explaining everything to Bernard so when we see young William his events are happening in the timeline of the flashbacks namely the past. When you see old William interacting with Hopkins/Dr Ford character it's present day hence different timelines past and present.
