The decision to play Bairstow instead of Roy was the right one, as Roy has been lucky to stay in the side for this long. Bairstow got 43 today too, although his innings was one of the few bright spots for England on a day when Pakistan always seemed to have the England batsmen under control. England's faltering innings eventually reached 211, being bowled out in 49.5 overs, with Root top score with 46.

So England make 211 all out after being 127/2 at the 27 over mark, therefore making only 84 from the last 23 overs available.

Bad day at the office all round for England. Never really got their game going at all. One of those days unfortunately. But England have improved immeasurably since the last World Cup in ODI cricket.
A shame about today but the future looks bright in ODI terms imo.

Yeah, a disappointing end to the tournament for England, but still so much improved from the World Cup....on to 2019!
