RE: Memories of Childhood - GMach1 - 20-01-2019 18:06 In the early days of the Internet I seem to recall many people searched for sexy pictures of the Pink Ranger. Can you imagine today's youth having to go out to make a phonecall using a card or money, physically dialling a number with your finger and looking up numbers in a huge phone book inside a cold phonebox. You could also ring numbers to listen to a record, the latest weather forecast or finding out the time from the Speaking Clock. Yes..I can still remember that Speaking Clock voice...(the woman’s voice)..at the third stroke it will be twelve...o clock....precisely...beep beep beep... I had a black Harrington jacket during the 1978/79 mod revival period during the warmer weather when the snorkel parka was not required ..it had like a tartan checkered lining. I can still remember seeing skinheads in the early 70s wearing their Harrington Jackets inside out RE: Memories of Childhood - GMach1 - 20-01-2019 18:46 Yes the Speaking Clock was a woman and then a man who had to always add "the time sponsored by Accurist is..." which I always thought was selling out to commercialism of the worst kind. You can't imagine someone using a mobile phone to ring for the time when it is right in front of you are the top of your screen. I also remember you could phone up for the Cricket scores especially the Ashes or Test matches. Never really understood why they turned their coats inside out-didn't Will Smith do that with his jacket at school in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.?
