Really happy for Madison Keys.
She has had a fine win over French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova to reach the semi finals.
Keys has had a tough time over the last number of months.
Great to see her doing well again Smile.

Barty stormed through.

Think the last of the Brits in the juniors lost. But still two guys in the doubles.

Rafael Nadal is through to his sixth Australian Open final after a 4 set semi final victory over Matteo Berrettini.
He will be attempting to win a 21st slam on Sunday to go in front of Federer and Djokovic.

He will face Daniil Medvedev in the final.

Joe Salisbury lost his doubles semi-final yesterday; he was the last Brit left.

Have enjoyed Barbara Schett's loony contributions to Eurosport's coverage.

Congrats to Ash Barty on Winning Women's Singles - Australia's first home tennis Women's Champion for 44 years

I very much hope Nadal wins the Men's singles title - after what he has had to go through the last year or so I think Medvedev will give him a good match.

Match time prediction : - around 3 and half hours long

Medvedev 1 set up Rafa 3-1 in 2nd
Would Rafa if he wins this - be back at no.1 in the world?

Rafael Nadal is a 21 time Grand Slam champion.
He recovered from two sets down to win 2-6 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 6-4 7-5 in a stunning fightback against Daniil Medvedev.

Remarkable.

Yes, well done to Barty, she had a great tournament.

Also well done to Nadal, an incredible achievement in many respects.

No World no 1 Carlos Alcaraz in Melbourne this year due to a leg injury.
No Naomi Osaka either and no Venus Williams.
Potentially no Emma Raducanu after her injury sustained in Auckland.

Dropping like flies.

RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 15-01-2023 11:43

Emma Raducanu is fit to compete and will feature on day one.
Cameron Norrie also plays on the opening day as do Harriet Dart and Kyle Edmund.

Stiffest test for Brits on day one goes to Jack Draper who faces Rafael Nadal.

Women's Tie of the round is arguably Sofia Kenin v Victoria Azarenka both former major champions.

RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 16-01-2023 02:43

Good news: Emma Raducanu has won her first round match in straight sets.

Bad news: She faces Coco Gauff next.

Gulp.
