As the hours tick down to the end of evacuaton, the bombings yestderday provide a insifght as to what could happen once Western forces leave. I pass condolences to the families of those American soldiers killed but the militants who did it have shown what they are capable
of and it does seem that the Taliban probably see their battle for control of Afghanistan only beginning and I think the Isis backed militants are the only ones who could oust the Taliban from power.

I wonder how many of those who are being brought here are likely to turn out to be IS/Taliban lone wolfs

Australia cancelled a submarine contract with France worth about 31 billion euro. Instead it's joined a US - UK defense alliance involving US nuclear submarine technology as well as cyber defence, applied artificial intelligence and undersea capabilities.
It looks like the US had put pressure on them to buy into their submarines to get a defense agreement. Just like Trump used to do before Biden came along.

The French are so upset that they've recalled their US and Australian ambassadors.

who gives a fuck tbh Tongue Tongue

only reason why they havent pulled UK ambassador is the EU want a pact with the UK on defence Tongue Tongue

The US, UK & AUS are already partners in the “5 eyes” security arrangements. Australia decided that they needed Nuclear powered subs rather than the diesel ones France had agreed to build for them. It’s a big deal and started with an approach by Australia to us. France are not a part of 5 eyes and this deal elevates AUS into a more trusted position as once you provide nuclear powered technology you can’t get it back.

^I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with the contract being late & massively over budget. The French had the nerve to suggest that the Aussies weren't capable of building them too.

Also, France blocked the export of vaccines to Australia.

What goes around comes around.
