RE: UFC - mitchell - 12-01-2011 21:10 The Strikeforce heavyweight tournament should be pretty sweet, I've been thinking for a while that the UFC should do this & open it up to evey fighter in whichever division they do it in & the winner could fight for the title. If it was open to everyone to enter it would give some lesser known or unfancied fighters a chance they wouldn't usually get & there would be some 3rd round FA Cup style upsets. Just think Anderson Silva (UFC middleweight champion) v Michael Bisping (Middleweight Grand Prix Champion) for the middleweight title or GSP (UFC welterweight champion) v Martin Kampmann (UFC welterweight Grand Prix Champion).... Ok maybe not Kampmann i don't think the UFC likes that kind of thing RE: UFC - HEX!T - 12-01-2011 21:26 when is the next ufc night? seems to have been ages since tha last 1... even though im a fan i obviously dont follow it as much as you guys. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 13-01-2011 01:19 The next Fight Night is UFC Fight Night FIGHT FOR THE TROOPS 2 Sat 22nd of January. MAIN CARD Evan Dunham vs. Melvin Guillard Matt Mitrione vs. Tim Hague Mark Hominick vs. George Roop Pat Barry vs. Joey Beltran Cole Miller vs. Matt Wiman Then it's UFC 126 Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort on Sat 5th of Feb. MAIN CARD Anderson Silva © vs. Vitor Belfort Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin Jake Ellenberger vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha Jon Jones vs. Ryan Bader Miguel Torres vs. Antonio Banuelos RE: UFC - HEX!T - 13-01-2011 22:58 griffin vs franklin? epic! fight of the night rite there... RE: UFC - groundnpound - 14-01-2011 14:31 I cant really call the Lesnar vs. Dos Santos fight Cainan... Thought Lesnar would beat Velasquez by taking him down and beating him up slowly and overpowering him and look what happened! He was out fought by a guy who really knows how to fight and he couldn't take the beat down Velasquez was putting on him.So im thinking it could go the same way? But surely Brock wont allow that to happen again?Surely. He'll be desperate to put that behind him.Plus don't think JDS is the same calibre fighter as Cain Velasquez...could be wrong? There could be some brilliant Heavyweight fights this year. Love your idea of the strikeforce type tournaments in the UFC Mitchell. How awesome would that be!There'd defo be some big upsets for me..It would be a real exciting thing for the fans to get into.Great idea. I had an idea months ago for the UFC to put on a once a year show where the fans chose the fights through a voting system..Say two fights from each weight class.Think that would be boss also! Can't wait for the Griffin vs. Franklin fight Hexit! Should be a classic.Fight of the night indeed lol RE: UFC - Young Shady - 14-01-2011 20:08 Posted by groundnpound - Today 14:31 I had an idea months ago for the UFC to put on a once a year show where the fans chose the fights through a voting system..Say two fights from each weight class.Think that would be boss also! This would be an epic idea, vote on ufc.com or by text, you should really send them an email. UFC 126 should be amazing, with "The Spider" minutes away from getting beat in his last fight, I'm sure he'll be looking to impress the fans with a top performance against Belfort. My tip for fight of the night would be Jon "Bones" Jones k.o'ing Ryan Bader, I think that will be the one to watch. I've never really been a big fan of Rich Franklin or Forrest Griffin I think they've always been fighters that sell tickets, not win matches. If anyone else here has been to the UFC live let me know what they thought of it? I was at UFC 106 back in 09' at the Mandalay Bay (even though i was staying at mgm grand) for my 21st. I didnt think much of Griffin then when he was fighting one of my favourites from back in the day Tito Ortiz. RE: UFC - cainan - 15-01-2011 18:54 The Lesnar / JDS fight can swing either way. JDS has the dynamite in his punches to blow Lesnar away because from his fights with Carwin & Velasquez, Brock dont like getting punched too much. Unless JDS has improved on the floor and in his defences, JDS could be doomed to stay on the floor all night. All in all, its too close but i think JDS will just punch his way to the win. RE: UFC - mitchell - 15-01-2011 20:25 I'm not too sure how this will go to be honest dos Santos is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which many say is a black belt elsewhere so his ground game can't be that bad & Lesnar's weak link is his stand up so i think this is what he'll be working on so we may get a Michael Bisping v Matt Hamill style fight only this time the shock win may come from the fighter with the shock stand & bang tactics. If Lesnar is learning how to throw & tear-up then he may be able to control dos Santos in the clinch even though they're the same hight Lesnar's easily the heavier man, a somewhat intriguing fight none the less. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 16-01-2011 00:04 Welcome to the thread Young Shady! Jones vs. Bader should be good mate.I like them both. Rising stars and should be a quality fight.Really not sure who i want to win?Jones is an unpredictable fighter who throws all sorts of crazy shots and has ko power.Bader is a quality wrestler with power also...So who knows? If you're not a fan of Griffin and Franklin then watch their fight (trust me) at 126 and you might just change your mind! I've been to 4 events Shady,UFC85 at the 02 in London mainly to see Michael Bisping and Thiago Alves. UFC89 in Birmingham again to see Bisping.Even got to see THE AWESOME Shane Carwin! lol UFC99 with my little sis in Germany for Dan Hardy (sis loves him) lol ,Cain Velasquez and Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva. The last event i went to was UFC105 in Manchester for Bisping, Hardy and Randy Couture.Loved every show i've been to.Awesome! The only thing that beats it is goin to football. Never been over to an event in the states though mate.Imagine that'd be boss.U enjoy Vegas? RE: UFC - Young Shady - 16-01-2011 21:09 Thanks! Yea i'm a massive fan of the UFC. nothing beats the buzz of being at a live fight, much better than any of the boxing events i've been to. Would love to go see some of the UFC cards in UK now that i'm not paying off a car have to say i'm a fan of Dan Hardy too, shame he didn't show off his skills properly against GSP. Being at a card in Vegas is totally different though, we paid extra money for the ground floor seats I was sitting 3 rows back from Jenna Jameson shit myself to ask for a pic with her though, should have asked but oh well It's the ultimate "holiday" experience, I took $2000 with me and just about spent it all in 5 days, that includes tickets though. Well worth it mate I'm gonna start saving up soon and go again, cant wait would really like to see Lesnar or Machida (if he actually turns up that is!) |
