Game Of Thrones s8 ep 5 "The Bells"

All hell breaks loose in Kings Landing

RE: Game Of Thrones - skully - 14-05-2019 11:24

So, it wasn't as bad as last weeks shit show, but still some issues that shouldn't exist this late in the game (character arcs being my main problem), I mean, c'mon did interns write this season. Some of the hopeful fan fiction has been much better written. lol.

Probably should wait until next week to write this, but meh, it's in me head.

Putting the issues with the inconsistent writing aside, the cast have been outstanding considering what they've had to work with, the visuals, music etc, all have been pretty much spot on too. I mean sure the Winterfell episode was far too dark, but it served its purpose.
We needed two more episodes (at least) to finish this story properly imo, and if so, it wouldn't have felt like everything was rushed, the show runners should be ashamed of themselves for not giving the story enough time. 73 hours was chosen and 73 hours was stuck to, madness.

I can't see how next week won't end up being disappointing, 80 odd minutes to tie up so much and get to whatever this ''bittersweet'' ending is supposed to be. Hmmm. I'm hopeful, but also prepared to be underwhelmed/disappointed.

A lesson people should take away from this, is if a story hasn't been finished by the author, they shouldn't be making a show about it, if the source material isn't complete, others shouldn't be allowed to cobble shit together to get to an end.

I think I'll avoid anything D&D are involved with in future, they can't be trusted, Star Wars may be doomed Sad

If you seen the leaked spoilers that have all been true then i think a lot of people will be pissed off on how it ends....

It didnt take much for dany to lose the plot did it.. i mean shes gone mad queen in like 2 episodes i think you can tell as soon as the writers got given a star wars film they checked out of this show and just want it over

RE: Game Of Thrones - Charlemagne - 14-05-2019 11:52

It was mentioned that this series is dark.
But I didn't think that they meant the picture quality.

Don't try and view the show on a sunny day unless you like a black screen

So, info has been shared about the finale on the Freefolk Reddit, it's not good, not good at all. Worth reading if you don't care anymore.
None of it makes sense and the whole thing sounds like a rushed mess. Given how bad the last two episodes have been, where the few payoff moments couldn't even save them (some of the lowest rated too), I'm not hopeful.

We were promised ''bittersweet'', this ending (if true) is just bad. Dexter and Lost will have competition for the worst ever ending.

RE: Game Of Thrones - MeTarzan - 18-05-2019 09:49

Just wanted to put down my predictions for Monday's GoT's finale:-

  • Daenerys (now juicily bad and scheming - what's not to like) insists Jon Snow marries her to unite the seven kingdoms (he can then be disposed of at a later date). Threatens more war and distruction if he refuses (sees Sansa Stark as the main threat).

  • Jon Snow agrees 'cos he's a whimp with a chip on his shoulder (so what's new).

  • Tyrion Lannister (who used to be smart and sarcastic but has now become morose and dumb) continues Varys' work, secretly plotting (with Sansa and others) to bring down the Mad Queen 'cos she fried a few plebs in Kings Landing - I mean, who cares...

  • Tyrion confides his plans to Jon Snow, who refuses to support him - but he doesn't warn Daenerys of the danger either (what a cunt).

  • Arya (I need a body-double for the nude bits) Stark resolves to kill Daenerys.

  • All the main characters gather for the wedding celebrations (in what's left of Kings Landing, I guess)...

  • During the wedding feast, Arya attempts to murder Daenerys, but is thwarted by Grey Worm. Arya is badly wounded and arrested - Grey Worm dies (to be reunited with Missandei and his testicles in the afterlife - ahhh, touching).

  • Daenerys (now seriously short of friends) becomes even more paranoid (love it) and accuses Tyrion of plotting against her - he is sentenced to death (together with Arya).

  • Daenerys plans to use Drogon (her dragon) to fry Tyrion and Arya at a public execution - just to ensure the folk of Westeros know who's boss (makes sense to me).

  • At the execution, Jon Snow finally discovers he's got a backbone and steps in front of Tyrion and Arya pleading with Daenerys not to kill them.

  • Daenerys (now looking her most steely) tells Jon to obey his queen and move aside or he'll fry too (gasp)...

  • Samwell (stop fat shaming me) Tarly, seeing his best friend is about to be fried, moves in behind Daenerys.

  • Daenerys utters the word "dracarys" to Drogon, but the dragon doesn't strike ('cos he senses Jon Snow is a Targaryen).

  • Daenerys goes beserk, screaming at Drogon to obey her and, in the confusion, Samwell Tarly strikes - killing Daenerys and thereby avenging his father and brother.

  • In the aftermarth, Jon Snow refuses to be king 'cos he thinks the world's had enough of the Targaryens. Sansa Stark marries the Prince of Dorne and they become rulers of the seven kingdoms with Tyrion as their Hand. It's clear Sansa wears the trousers in the relationship, so she'll be the real ruler...

Anyway, those are my predictions for the final episode. Just an exercise really to see if the writers deserve their huge salaries by coming up with something much more original (and shocking) than my plot...

RE: Game Of Thrones - Charlemagne - 18-05-2019 14:00

I see that there's a petition of more than half a million followers, who are demanding a reshooting of this final session. bladewave

RE: Game Of Thrones - skully - 18-05-2019 14:15

It's not really a petition to re-shoot, that was to grab attention, it's to show the guys in charge and HBO that fans aren't happy.

Anyone actually expecting a re-shoot is delusional.
