RE: Scottish Football - Sm© - 10-08-2014 14:57 Rangers were unbeaten in the league last season, and now they have lost the first game of the season... Don't think they will have it as easy this year RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 10-08-2014 17:53 First things first and I may only ever get this opportunity once this season to boast but Dundee United are top of the table As for Celtic - A dramatic slide down the league - 7th in the table - surely we're not going to get an old firm derby next season in the Championship Right so the first round of fixtures have now been played and starting off in the Scottish Premiership the results went as follows. Dundee 1 Kilmarnock 1 Hamilton 0 Inverness CT 2 Motherwell 1 St Mirren 0 Aberdeen 0 Dundee United 3 Ross County 1 St Johnstone 2 An excellent opening day victory for my Dundee United side against a very tired and sluggish Aberdeen outfit. Also good to see my neighbours Dundee start the season off with a point. Also an excellent away victory for St Johnstone, Dingwall is never an easy place to pick up points, as for Motherwell, no real surprise and already it looks like Hamilton could struggle to find their feet in this division having crashed to a 2-0 defeat. Into the Championship which is where a lot of eyes will be focused on such is the novelty factor of having 3 of Scotland's biggest clubs all battling it out for only 1 certain promotion spot. Having seen the Rangers game against Hearts this afternoon on the telly you have to say already its looking like this is not going to be any stroll in the park for the Ibrox outfit as they are now up against professional sides as opposed to their previous 2 campaigns when they were up against mostly part time outfits who just so happened to play football for a hobby, their days playing against a mob consisting of plumbers, hairdressers, painters and decorators in which is was always a case of how many they would score against are well are truly behind them as the Gers now have it tough and competitive. The results of the Championship went as follows. Cowdenbeath 2 Falkirk 2 Hibernian 2 Livingston 1 Queen of Sth 2 Alloa 0 Raith Rovers 3 Dumbarton 1 Rangers 1 Hearts 2 An excellent opening day victory for Hearts showing Rangers that they have every intention of winning of league, Hibs too opened with a victory with the novelty factor that the goalkeeper scored the winning goal http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/28731459 Although most of the media attention will be on the big 3, don't bank on it being a 3 horse race as the likes of Falkirk and Raith Rovers will have a lot to say and arguably can also put themselves up for contention when it comes to the promotion race. RE: Scottish Football - mikedafc - 10-08-2014 19:43 Championship was always going to Rangers toughest test, that is for me main reason why playoffs were introduced between Championship and Premiership (10-08-2014 14:57 )Sm© Wrote: Rangers were unbeaten in the league last season, and now they have lost the first game of the season... RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 14-08-2014 19:26 Sorry but I think they should just hand the title over to Dundee United now, that's us 2 points clear at the top, the league is as good as over as far as I'm concerned All the results from last night went as follows. Dundee United 1 Motherwell 0 Inverness CT 0 Dundee 0 Kilmarnock 0 Aberdeen 2 Partick Thistle 4 Ross County 0 St Johnstone 0 Celtic 3 St Mirren 0 Hamilton 2 RE: Scottish Football - mikedafc - 15-08-2014 23:21 was close game but Rangers finally beat Falkirk with two late goals RE: Scottish Football - terence - 16-08-2014 13:03 (14-08-2014 19:26 )Scottishbloke Wrote: Sorry but I think they should just hand the title over to Dundee United now, that's us 2 points clear at the top, the league is as good as over as far as I'm concerned lol! you had to tempt fate! RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 16-08-2014 20:09 Yes and I think I'll keep my head low this week with everything concerning Dundee United I think the term we got gang raped at Celtic Park is the only way to describe the magnitude of the defeat No doubt Celtic scoring 6 is exactly the confidence boost they need to hopefully spur them on into doing something positive in Europe. Final scores. Celtic 6 Dundee United 1 Dundee 1 Partick Thistle 1 Hamilton 1 St Johnstone 0 Motherwell 0 Inverness CT 2 Ross County 1 Kilmarnock 2 Looking at the results although Dundee have gained another point they really ought to be getting all 3 when at home to the likes of Partick if they are to stand any chance of not ending up battling at the wrong end of the table. As for Motherwell, a good away win for Inverness but still a surprise result for the team that finished 2nd last season. Hamilton continue to surprise the pundits with a good win at home. Ross Countys miserable start to the season continues and it wouldn't surprise me the least if Derek Adams ends up as the first manager casualty of the season. Last night I watched Falkirk play Rangers off the park but somehow manage to lose. The gers were lucky after being on the back foot for the majority of the match. All the Championship results went as follows. Falkirk 0 Rangers 2 Alloa 0 Raith Rovers 1 Dumbarton 0 Queen of Sth 4 Livingston 2 Cowdenbeath 1 Tomorrow the first Edinburgh takes place and I'm tipping Hearts for the win. Hearts v Hibs kicks off tomorrow at 12:30 RE: Scottish Football - Joey 27 - 16-08-2014 20:39 just heard that celtic fielded an ineligible player and dundee utd are awarded a 3-0 win, as they say what goes around comes around RE: Scottish Football - Phonebook - 16-08-2014 21:49 (16-08-2014 20:09 )Scottishbloke Wrote: Yes and I think I'll keep my head low this week with everything concerning Dundee United Sorry about Utd mate.
