RE: UFC - mitchell - 13-02-2011 01:25 So Rashad can't fight 'Shogun' at UFC 128 March 19, 2011 because of a knee injury but he can fight Rampage at UFC 130 May 28, 2011.... Oh no wait he can't fight then either so Matt Hamill will now face Rampage instead So let me get this right Evans is out of the title fight due to injury & replaced by Jon 'Bones' Jones after he beats Ryan Bader in his first big test instead of Rampage who's 11-2 in his last 13 with losses only to Forrest Griffin where he lost the light heavyweight title in the fight of the night & Wrestling Observer Newsletter Fight of the Year & the second loss to Evans in a title eliminator fight & within those 11 wins are Chuck Liddell, Dan Henderson, Wanderlei Silva, Keith Jardine & Lyoto Machida (Qestionable) & his opponent Matt Hamill who's on a five fight win streak with wins over Mark Muñoz, Jon Jones (DQ) Keith Jardine & Tito Ortiz. The UFC are doing a lot of fucking fighters about of late in their desperation for big money grabbing fights & in the process are disrespecting a lot of fighters i.e Jon Fitch who was supposed to fight for the welterweight title but was told he will no longer be considered the number 1 contender & was left without a fight untill he was matched with Jake Ellenberger at UFC 126 February 5, 2011 only to be pulled out to face welterweight new boy BJ Penn after he beat Matt Hughes the fight will be the main event at UFC 127 February 27, 2011 in Australia Iwonder if Fitch wins will he face GSP.... Errr Nooooo!!! GSP will be told to sit on his ass & lap up the hype of a fight with Anderson Silva which probably won't happen this year but if BJ wins then his next opponent will be errr yep thats right, BJ will fight in a money grabber for the welterweight title, I could go on but I'm starting to think what the fuckin point.... RE: UFC - cainan - 13-02-2011 11:54 Heres hoping Jon Jones can beat Shogun. Arlovski's powder chin once again fails him....shame but im a fan of Kharitonov so I havnt really been up on Fedor in recent years, the competition hes faced....Silva was a test & Fedor got his eye put shut. "Yes, maybe, it’s the last time. Maybe it’s high time. Thanks for everything. I spent a great beautiful long sport life. Maybe it’s God’s will,” said Fedor about his possible retirement while still in the cage. Id hate for him to retire, hes such a legend & entertaining fighter....but id love for him to go out with his health & some dignity.....look at Chuck Liddell. Also, GSP vs. Silva....i couldnt give a shit if this is happening or not. I find GSP so boring & like ive said, im no big fan of Silva anymore. Both are awesome fighters but i just think, looking at the Silva / Sonnen fight, if GSP gets him on the floor, he'll have Silva there all night. RE: UFC - BaddaBing - 13-02-2011 12:01 Thanks for the Brock interview GroundnPound, interesting to hear what he had to say. I think it's very easy for people to dismiss him as a prick and say he's has no place in the UFC. I'm looking forward to the new season of UF RE: UFC - mitchell - 13-02-2011 15:05 Another quality show from Strikeforce with none of the fights on the main card going the distance, I've not seen the full event just these fights but with a show full of finishes it would of pleased the 11,287 crowd & tv viewers. Fedor Emelianenko v Antonio Silva A good fight but Fador or should that be Fading looks like he hasn't got much left or doesn't want to give it any more, thats 2 losses in a row now with the loss to Fabricio Werdum aswell albeit after a massive 27... WOW, fight win streak & only the 2nd & 3rd losses of his career. I agree with you cainan I wouldn't want to see him retire either even though I don't see many of his fights but still with him turning only 35 this year maybe he just needs a new challenge... UFC maybe... Errrr ok maybe not then Andrei Arlovski v Sergei Kharitonov http://mixedmartialartvideos.com/andrei-arlovski-vs-sergei-kharitonov-video-strikeforce-heavyweight-gp/ I liked Arlovski in the early days but man has he turned out to be one epic fail thats now 3 KO losses in his last 4 the other by unanimous decision, 7 of his 9 career losses are by KO/TKO. I think he should go back to Belarus & rejoin the Minsk Police Force!!! The other fights from the main card are on this^^^ site aswell although I haven't watched them yet. Shane Del Rosario v Lavar Johnson Chad Griggs v Gianpiero Villante Valentijn Overeem v Ray Sefo Does anyone know if Strikeforce is back on tv yet after the fall of Bravo??? RE: UFC - groundnpound - 13-02-2011 15:07 No probs BaddaBing.I've changed my mind about Lesnar over the past year..He's actually a decent lad. Good post Mitchell. It's clear to me what the UFC has in mind here. They think that Jon Jones will beat Shogun. In my opinion. They wouldn't put him in for the belt otherwise. They know Rampage will take care of Hamill...Setting up a huge fight with the new young champion.Rashad and Shougun will be thrown into the mix later aswell when they eventually meet in the bout that never was. With the winner meeting the winner of the Jones vs. Rampage fight. I've got my cristal ball out lol The Welterweight division will be blown wide open for me after GSP's next fight. He'll move up to Middleweight to fight Silva.Surely. A fight between the two best fighters in the sport can be nothing but a great thing and mega exciting for all the fans Cainan.Come on lad...Where's your enthusiasm!!! lol GSP has a few more strings to his bow than a good ground game. For me his most boring performance was against Dan Hardy. He's shown against Matt Hughes,Matt Serra and Josh Koscheck that he can change it up any time he likes. He can learn and almost perfect any discipline in the time it takes to prepare for a fight...He's like a sponge. I think a fight between the two would be fascinating to say the least.Really hope it happens. RE: UFC - mitchell - 13-02-2011 15:21 Yeah there's nothing wron with a bit of mix & match but I just don't like the way they go about it sometimes. On Brock Lesnar, I only watched 6min of the first vid as he was annoying me with his I don't even want to be talking to you guys demeanor & answers, also I think both him & Junior dos Santos aren't the best coaches for TUF as one of the journos pointed out Lesnar is still learning himself & has a lot to learn as we saw in the Carwin & Velasquez fights & dos Santos eventhough he's a brown belt in BBJ his fights so far have mostly been standup fights & this may give the wrong impression to the fighters who come to learn on the show, but like I say it fits the UFC's money grabber project RE: UFC - 199lives - 18-02-2011 21:02 although i agree about some of the UFC's questionable matchmaking at times, its not too bad in this case there was not a lot of options for the shogun fight rampage was offered it and turned it down saying he couldn't make weight in time. i really don't want to see another rashad-rampage the first was bad enough. RE: UFC - BaddaBing - 19-02-2011 10:29 This is old news to most I imagine but I see Semtex Daley is back on BAMMA next week fighting Yuya Shirai. I take it he's now out of UFC after he hit out at Koscheck after the final bell at 113 RE: UFC - mitchell - 19-02-2011 15:36 Ryan Couture's second MMA fight at last nights ShoMMA: Strikeforce Challengers event. Ryan Couture vs Lee Higgins RE: UFC - groundnpound - 19-02-2011 20:19 The young Couture looked pretty good there.Totally controlled the fight. What height is he Mitchell?Funny he's a lightweight when Randy's a Light Heavy/Heavyweight.Lee Higgins looks a tough lad.Just couldn't hold on at the end. Wonder how Randy's lookin in the build up for Lyoto Machida... Daley's was thrown out of the UFC BaddaBing after his attack lol on Koscheck.Dana White said he'd never fight in the UFC again. He said: "He'll never come back, I don't care if he's the best 170-pounder in the world. He's never coming back here. There's no excuse for that. You never hit a guy like that after the bell." I think he should go back on his word.Paul Daley's an exciting fighter who could mix it with anyone in the UFC and whose probably learned his lesson. That BAMMA Event is at the MEN Arena in manchester on 26th Feb if anyone wants to see him. |
