RE: UFC - mitchell - 26-02-2011 01:06

I'm just goin on your words here 199lives as I haven't googled it but if this is true then to throw professional... Yeah I said professionl sportsmen out of a hotel facility because other guests were higher priority is nothing short of a fuckin disgrace!!!, what hotel was they staying at The Ritz & who was the 'higher priority guests' Prince William & Kate Middleton... What the fuckSad
Although it does go to show how UK MMA is treated by it's ownannoyedannoyedannoyed No surprise the fights are still going ahead given the circumstances, I'm looking forward to the Daley v Rodriguez fight ahead of UFC 127.

I was also looking forward to seing Rampage in a fight with someone outside of his usual opponents but looks like thats not gonna happenRolleyes
I've took this from Thiago Silva's Wiki page.
Silva was expected to face the former light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson on May 28, 2011 at UFC 130, although there were rumors that the fight had been canceled due to injury or failed drug tests from his UFC 125 bout. In a statement with Brazilian MMA site Tatame, Thiago declined that he was injured; "Injured? Me? I’m very healthy. That’s not true and looks like the NSAC did two tests, one was positive and the other negative. My blood is clean, I'm calm, took nothing."

Following this statement, Keith Kizer, the commissioner of the NSAC, confirmed that Thiago Silva’s samples are still undergoing tests; "That’s not accurate. We have gotten only the first sample back. It could be weeks before we find out the results for the second test.". The UFC didn't want to take any chances in waiting for the second test for Silva, so they replaced Silva with Matt Hamill

RE: UFC - Gaz "AV1" Aston - 26-02-2011 09:18

I've realised recently that a number of threads i was subscribed to have suddenly "unsubscribed" me for some reason bladewave
So i've managed to find my way back to this one after quite a while away..and good timing with UFC 127 on its way Big Grin

First thing i noticed today is how heated things had got between Jorge Rivera and Micheal Bisping at the weigh in...

So i looked into it to see why the bad blood....?

MICHAEL BISPING has promised to punish his bitter UFC rival Jorge Rivera on Sunday over a series of mock videos which includes perceived references to his girlfriend.

Bisping, whose girlfriend is Australian, is seething over Rivera's videos and the bad blood between the middleweights could spill over at a press conference today when they face each other.

''It's pathetic really, he's trying to get a response out of me and anger me and throw me off my game plan,'' the Englishman told the Herald.

''All he is really doing is making me more focused and train harder.

''Regarding the content of the things, it's immature and childish. We're fighting in the premier mixed martial arts organisation in the world, there are a lot of eyes on us, we're fighting in the co-main event, and he needs to behave accordingly.

''He is acting like a child, it's the type of thing you see in the schoolyard. On top of that, he has insulted myself, he's insulted the country I come from, he has insulted my girlfriend's heritage … It's absolutely ridiculous, I think he's crossed the line on some occasions but I'm trying not to answer it.''

In one of the videos, Rivera says ''80 per cent of koalas in Australia have chlamydia'', which Bisping has taken as a direct insult to his partner. Bisping, who is planning to settle here with his girlfriend and train part-time in Britain, said Rivera had made a big mistake.

''I'm not trying to act tough, believe me, but the worst thing to do to me is make me angry,'' he said. ''I fight way harder when I'm pissed off. I'm loving it, keep making your videos, Jorge, because he's going to eat his words.''

Rivera (18-7) teases Bisping (20-3) for winning fights by decision, results he claims have been unfair to Bisping's opponents. The American also mocks Bisping's British accent.

Meanwhile, the two men who will have least support in the Acer Arena on Sunday have promised to silence the 19,000 people in the stands.

Dennis Siver (lightweight) and Chris Camozzi (middleweight) fight Australian favourites George Sotiropoulos and Kyle Noke respectively, and judging by last year's deafening reception for Sotiropoulos in the UFC's debut event in Australia, the overseas pair will feel the heat.

''I'm used to fighting overseas, I know the home crowd will support their man, it doesn't bother me,'' Russia's Siver said through an interpreter.

Camozzi (14-3), who has won six of his past seven fights, said: ''The boos fuel me even more, I am a stubborn person, they don't bring me down they push me up.''

And Camozzi's coach Marc Montoya agreed. ''I think Chris is going to relish that environment, any adversity he has, he overcomes. I think a lot of pressure is on Kyle (18-4) to perform here in Australia. A few boos is not going to derail what Chris came to do.''

Siver (17-7) said he had a stronger stand-up game, but an agitated Sotiropoulos (14-2) responded: ''I really think what he says is irrelevant, he's said in other interviews that he's going to submit me, now you're telling me he doesn't want to go the ground, that is all talk.

''I believe he has no advantage anywhere. I have the advantage striking, I've got the advantage wrestling, grappling, so he has no advantage.''

Bisping may think he fights better when he's pissed off but personally i think he could get wreckless....Hope he wins anyway!

RE: UFC - mitchell - 26-02-2011 15:28

UFC 127 ESPN 3AM MMA live 01:15AM Live Prelims 2AM.

Chris Camozzi v Kyle Noke
2 former TUF contestants face each other with Camozzi winning his place in the house only to have it taken away due to a broken jaw sustained in that very fight but he's 2-0 in his UFC career since then with a 14-3 overall record & a good mix of standup skills as well as some BBJ & an even finish record says he's a decent albeit potentionally drawn out fighter. Home grown fighter Noke was first pick for Team Liddell & eventually lost a decision to Kris McCray, like Camozzi he comes to the UFC with a good record 18-4 (2-0 UFC) & an even finish record so this looks like a tough one to call with both on a 4 fight win streak but home advantage & Greg Jackson's wrestling my come into it. Kyle Noke - Decision
Chris Lytle v Brian Ebersole
Lytle was expecting to face Carlos Condit but due to injury he now faces well travelled UFC debutant Ebersole. Submission specialist Lytle (21 subs) has been on the rise of late with 4 straight wins including Matt Serra & the dangerous Matt Brown & was looking ready to climb the welterweight ladder against Condit but now faces a tricky test against Brian Ebersole who at the age of 30 has already had 62 fights with a record of W46 L14 KO's13 Subs20 (9L) Decisions13 (5L) & 1 loss in his last 12 he could prove a big shock for Chris Lytle. American Ebersole has spent his career split between verious countries including the US, Mexico & for his last 15 fights has fought in Australia so will have to crowd behind him.
Between them these two fighter have a combined record of FIGHTS 114, WINS 76, LOSSES 31, KO's 16, SUBS 41, DECISIONS 19 A very very tough fight to call as Ebersole will have the crowd but Lytle will have the experience. Chris Lytle - Submission
George Sotiropoulos v Dennis Siver
The fastly improving Sotiropoulos faces a dangerous test against German based striker Siver who comes into this fight with 6 wins in his last 7 & is also experienced at traveling worldwide for his fights & has also fought home favorites on several occasions but faces his biggest test to date against the Aussie BBJ blackbelt who's riding high on an 8 fight win streak 7 of which give him a 7-0 UFC record & he has already fought in some tough fights against good opponents, 14-2 overall Sotiropoulos will be looking to keep his unbeaten UFC record intact & gain a shot at Frankie Edgar or Gray Manard's lightweight title. George Sotiropoulos - Submission
Michael Bisping v Jorge Rivera
This fight has become somewhat of a grudge match due to the talk of Rivera but his tactics may turn in his favor. Ageing Rivera knows this is his biggest fight & his last shot at the big time & is possibly only here due to a win over Nate Quarry & the UFC's unwillingness to let Bisping move up the middleweight ladder but with a 19-7 record & 13KO's Rivera stands a very good chance of an upset as Bisping has always been too open & often against a big puncher has been rocked so he'll need to come in with a highly professional fight attitude or face what maybe a career changing fight. Bisping is by far the most experienced at this level but his style is tailor made for Rivera who knows he doesn't have to worry about a takedown & know's Bisping will probably always circle into a big punch so Bisping will need to keep his emotions in check & use his kickboxing skills as his primary offence to keep 38 year old Rivera at bay & wear him down. A very dangerous fight for the overwhelming favorite. Bisping - TKO
B.J. Penn v Jon Fitch
With only 1 loss in his last 22 fights the unlucky Jon Fitch now faces another top level opponent in BJ Penn, with only 1 loss in his UFC career to welterweight champion GSP Fitch has often come in for criticism over his drawn out fighting style with 13 of his 23 wins coming by decision he now faces a fighter who can be just as frustrating to watch as himself. BJ comes into this fight at a crossroad in his career after losing his lightweight title to Frankie Edgar & then failing to regain it, he's now moved upto welterweight where he's just beaten veteran Matt Hughes in 21seconds & now has a chance to possibly fight the winner of the title fight between Jake Shields & title holder GSP but will first have to hand Fitch his first none title fight loss in his UFC career & only his second loss in the last 9 years spanning 23 fights. Fitch will as always take his time even more so against BJ to try & take the fight to the ground & control his opponent with his wrestling skills especially knowing BJ has a track record of being unfit for a 3 round wrestling match & BJ will have to come out with his once every 3 to 4 fight style of rush & pummel in order to ruffle the feathers of the patient Jon Fitch. For a main event this has the potential to be one of the most boring fights in UFC history but whether or not thats the case rests solely on the shoulders or should that be on the fittness & willingness of 'The Prodigy'. Once again a very tough fight to call. Jon Fitch - Decision

Ross Pearson v Spencer Fisher
Pearson will be looking to get back to winning ways after being stopped by Cole Miller in his last fight to get himself back on track for a title contender fight especially now BJ has moved up in weight but he faces a big test against Fisher who although he's lost some momentum of late with 5 losses in his last 12 he's still got a 10-9 KO & Sub record albeit with 6 of his last 8 ending by decision & has fought some though opponents over the years. This has all the potential needed for fight of the night??? Ross Pearson - Decision

RE: UFC - gazfc - 27-02-2011 15:23

Just watching 127, can't wait for the bisping fight, that press conference was tasty

RE: UFC - Gaz "AV1" Aston - 27-02-2011 15:26

i stayed up to watch...Was a good card i thought Smile

RE: UFC - gazfc - 27-02-2011 18:55

Well watched, Bisping did what he needed 2 do but that Illegal knee may cheapen the victory

BJ Penn Vs fitch relly really should of been a Fitch victory, if that last round wasnt a 10-8 round i have no idea what is

Chris Camozzi v Kyle Noke
Well I thought this one may be a close fight with a decision win but like I said the Greg Jackson training came good for Kyle Noke who finished the fight almost before it started... Well 1 minute 35 seconds after it started, he's now on a 5 fight win streak & coming along nicely for a TUF contestant.
Chris Lytle v Brian Ebersole
Like most of us Chris Lytle didn't know what to expect going into this fight & with good reason as straight from the off the eccentric Ebersole showed
some... Well different skills than your normal fighter & some would've been forgiven for thinking here comes another Anderson Silva style Abu Dhabi performance but any of those thoughts were quickly dissmissed as soon as the unknown American settled into the fight & showed some good takedown & submission defence aswell as some good skills of his own & at times looked like he may give Lytle his first stoppage defeat of his career. It was a bad night for Chris Lytle after gaining some momentum but he'll no doubt bounce back against a top opponent in his next fight & Ebersole just may have walked into the UFC as the next big thing???
George Sotiropoulos v Dennis Siver
Not a great night for the home town fighter who may have gained a title shot if he won but straight away struggled to get close to the German kickboxer who utilised the distance with some ease & precise striking & almost gained a KO victory on several occasions in the first round but the Aussie was able to hold on & come back in the second round but without a takedown all fight it was always playing into the hands of Dennis Siver who gained a big unanimous decision to take himself to 7-4 in the UFC & with 1 loss in his last 8 the question now is will he be given a title shot???
Michael Bisping v Jorge Rivera
This was a fight that Michael Bisping didn't ask for & didn't need as Jorge Rivera isn't on the level of Bisping or any of his previous opponents but talked himself into it by winding up the easely wound up Bisping & the only thing other than a win Bisping gained from this fight is a lot more fans in the US who will hate him even more because of the highly illegal knee & the way he reacted after the fight.
That aside the fight was a routine win for 'The Count' as Rivera only had the one puch to offer & was easely worndown by the better fighter but the question now is what do the UFC do with Michael Bisping with regards to his next fight???
B.J. Penn v Jon Fitch
Not too much to say about this as it was a boring fight by two boring fighters as thats what BJ Penn has now become & what Jon Fitch has always been & showed to perfection in the last round by beating... Or should that be happy slapping BJ for the full 5 minutes when most fighters would've just finished the fight with 2 minutes to spare & this is why Jon Fitch who was robbed of the decision win by the judges will probably never fight for the title or at least be champion.
Ross Pearson v Spencer Fisher
A tricky fight for Pearson after his loss to Cole Miller but he got straight back to winning ways with a very good win against a very good opponent & this is what will hopefully get him a top contender in his next fight to enable him to continue his rise in the UFC as like I've said before Ross Pearson has the ability to not only be Britans top UFC fighter but a top fighter in the UFC period.

Bonus awards
Fighters were awarded $75,000 bonuses.
Fight of the Night: Brian Ebersole v Chris Lytle
Knockout of the Night: Mark Hunt
Submission of the Night: Kyle Noke

Overall UFC 127 was a very good show.

RE: UFC - HEX!T - 02-03-2011 06:59

i was glad to see bispink show some proper fighting spirit. illegal knee? the guy had it coming and mike knew exactly what he was doing... there was not OH! it was a mistake ref... it was EAT IT!!!....
but when it actually came down to it, bisping brought his A game, and dismantled his opponent with style.
i gotta give him credit at the end... "go home looser!" classic... normally i dont like that kind of thing, but you could see that they guys trash talk had gotten way to personal...
what i would say is that bisping has shown that he can be gotten to, which may well work against him as his career progresses....

over all not a bad night the card was ok, even if a couple of fights were WTF are the judges watching... but on the whole not to bad.
