Remember in 1984 when Ronald Reagan said this?...."My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes."

And everyone laughed, because although it was a rather stupid thing to say at the time, it was an off the record comment during a soundcheck before a Radio Speech and was clearly a joke.

40 years later, we have Donald Trump who constantly inflicts his half-arsed opinions upon the world and clearly believes every word he says because he has absolutely no sense of humour and therefore can't be joking.

I bet if you told Trump a joke today he won't get it or laugh until Friday afternoon.

UN & NATO should tell him in no uncertain terms : - "Fuck off"
I hope the rest of the Security Council in the UN stands together and vetoes every policy Trump brings foward from here on in.
Then it up to every country in both organisations to join forces & band together and stand up to him.

Then once Trump realises he is friendless internationally politically, and ordinary Americans finally wake up, and smells the orange orangutang they have as a President for what he is and refuse to fight for him, then hopefully he'll finally see the light.

I wouldn't even put it past him that he'll eventually try to tear up the American Consitution so then, he'll have absolute power and can't be voted or removed out of office.

Be warned ordinary Americans: Trump will only want one thing thia time around: - his way or nothing.
The 2nd American Civil War is looming and probably far larger than ever.

One thing that will be interesting to watch is how Trump will approach in dealing with Netanyahou this time around given the situation there. I can't remember how he dealt with him last time.

Bum chums is the answer, in his rambling me, me, me fest he said "All hell will break out in Middle East if hostages aren't returned by time I'm in office", so yeah, if there hasn't been any movement on that by then (hopefully there will be), expect Israel to see it as a green light to break whatever international laws they haven't already broken, and to step up their genocide on the innocent people in Gaza who happen to be in the way of them taking that territory, with the full support of America to do so, because land is what this is about (at it's core), just like them moving more people into Syria, more land bladewave

Leaders who want more territory and are willing to take it by force are getting a new friend in Trump, aside from Xi of course.

Trump's turned up the bullying before he's begun.

He's suggesting that both Panama and Greenland are being influenced by China. And he's wanting to secure the borders both to the north and the south.

But lets hope that his threats work in the Israel hostage problem. The loss of life needs to end.

RE: US Election & Presidency - The Silent Majority - 08-01-2025 13:42

Was a professor of international politics talking about this on the radio this morning.
He was of the opinion that Panama and Canada are obviously bullshit, but Greenland might be do-able.
Denmark hasn't been sounding too outraged and has alluded that it might be up to the people of Greenland to decide.
So if Trump waved enough money at them, who knows...

Apparently Truman also tried to buy it in the 1940s.

Greenland survives on subsidies from Denmark. It’s a net cost to them.

Yes, it must be sat on top of hugely valuable natural resources, but they’ve never found a way to make their extraction economically viable.

Its strategic location between North America and Europe doesn’t amount to much when a flight from Copenhagen to New York takes about 7 hours and costs £500.

And I don’t imagine that the prospect of converting the Inuit to Christianity holds as much importance today as it did in the 1750s.

If I were the King of Denmark, I’d trade it for a barrel of whisky and some shiny beads.

Automatic US citizenship could be a big selling point to the Greenlanders.

RE: US Election & Presidency - skully - 08-01-2025 15:24

After hearing about this and having a quick search, it looks like they would prefer full independence rather than being tied to Denmark or anyone else.
I'm not sure being forced to trade Denmark for America is anyone's idea of a good selling point tbh, especially when a Trump America would strip resources.

The French are kicking off more than the Danish, but that's a thing they enjoy, just like us and moaning about the weather. lol.

Mmm let me think what Trumps record is like with Native Americans? He hates them so why would the Greenland Inuits think they’d be treated any better? He’ll sumply turn the island over to big US mining companies and increase the US military presence. It won’t be a jobs bonanza for the native population.
