Solvakian yellow jersey rider Tadej Pogacar destroyed the rest of the field in today's finish at Isola 2000. He came from minutes behind and charged up the mountain road.
Brit Simon Yates finished 3rd, 40 secs behind Podacar.

Today's final stage is different to previous years. There's going to be no procession into Paris, instead there's going to be an individual time trail. It's a 33.7km from Monaco to Nice.
It's going to be Mark Cavendish's last day on the Tour.

Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) won the time trail by over a minute from rival Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike). Pogacar won the tour by more than 6 minutes.
Pogacar - yellow jersey

Carapaz - spotted jersey
Evenpoel - white jersey

There is a least some caveat why Pogacar won by such a large margin over Vingegaard who hadn't fully recovered from a recent crash, we are only just hearing about the full extent of his injuries, but the rest of the pack are some way behind. Evenepoel also had poor preparation after he had broken his collarbone in April, & has proved his doubter wrong with an accomplished maiden Tour de France, 3rd on the podium comfortably ahead of 4th. If he now focusses on the Grande Tours he can hope to challenge the big two in the future.
What is most remarkable about Pogacar is that he used the Giro (which he also won by a big margin) as a warm-up for the Tour de France. Winning the final 3 stages to make 6 in total suggests that he got stronger as the race went on.

Sir Mark Cavendish has won a record breaking 35 tour stages. He was due to retire during the tour but delayed it after he crashed out.
So this weekend he's announced that today's race at the Tour de France Criterium in Singapore will be the last for the 39 year old

I would wager it was the latter, but It did seeeem they did try to to stop him winnning.
I have a thought wasn't one of Edddie Mercx's wins was when he was in his 40's? I would think it would take a huge cash offfer to tempt him
