RE: UFC - groundnpound - 08-03-2011 01:15

Just seen a load of rumours on various mma websites that Shane Carwin will fight Cheick Kongo @ UFC 131 in June on the same card as Lesnar vs. Dos Santos.

Any thoughts lads?

RE: UFC - mitchell - 08-03-2011 01:32

Probably seen as an easy comeback fight, but Kongo's a standup fighter & a big guy so it may be a tough test for Carwin & a big pay off for Cheick Kongo as he's probably lucky to still be in the UFC let alone fighting in such a fight albeit Shane Carwin isn't a massive name outside of the Lesnar fight, interesting one this.

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 08-03-2011 01:48

To use the words of Dan Hardy.I think Carwin will "tuck him into bed with his right hand"

One of my fav fighters though so a biased view.

Before we go any further, we should note that Australia's Athletic Commission doesn't release fighter pay info, so none of the following salary data for the event is official. However, you can get a fairly accurate picture of a fighter's pay based on official purse info released from past fights. So, based on that info, here is the estimated pay breakdown for the 22 fighters that traded blows at the event (but please remember - this is only an estimate, not official info, especially for any fighters that made their UFC debuts at the event or guys like Mark Hunt, who have never had his UFC purse info released in the past).

Kyle Noke $91,000 ($8,000 to show, $8,000 win bonus, $75,000 Submission of the NIght bonus) v Chris Camozzi $8,000

Brian Ebersole $83,000 ($4,000 to show, $4,000 win bonus, $75,000 Fight of the Night bonus)
v Chris Lytle $101,000 ($26,000 to show, $75,000 Fight of the Night bonus)

Dennis Siver $34,000 ($17,000 to show, $17,000 win bonus) v George Sotiropoulos $12,000

Michael Bisping $325,000 ($175,000 to show, $150,000 win bonus) v Jorge Rivera $18,000

B.J. Penn $150,000 v Jon Fitch $54,000

Mark Hunt $87,000 ($6,000 to show, $6,000 win bonus, $75,000 Knockout of the Night bonus)
v Chris Tuchsherer $12,000

Ross Pearson $16,000 ($8,000 to show, $8,000 win bonus) v Spencer Fisher $26,000

Michael Bisping must have Dana White by the balls, he almost gets payed the same as the champions bladewave

Sweet post mate.

A good night for Mark Hunt then lol He turns up on $6,000 and strolls out with $87,000!Top nights work i'd say!The same goes for Brian Ebersole a top night.

George Sotiropoulos $12,000...The fans favourite down under....That's a poor packet for the lad.

Agreed on Bisping mate,He's on more than a legend like BJ fighting in the main event.

Thinking about it though Bisping is the UFC's top European fighter so maybe it shouldn't be so much of a surprise.

And 2 anyone that didnt know, ESPN is free all weekend

FUCK FUCK FUCK. As someone who doesn't have ESPN, I go ahead and miss when it's free. I'll have the small excuse that it was my birthday on Sunday hence why I forgot...though it's a lame one as I didn't know it was free to air.

I know this is somewhat old news but I finally got round to watching Edgar vs. Maynard II and I wondered how people here scored it?

first maynard 10-8, 4and 5 were edgar it all came down to how you scored 2 and 3 which were close. at the time i thought Frankie just edged it but wasn't mad at the decision it was close. rematch has just been confirmed ufc130 may 28th.

Gina Carano has a piucture in the sun with ewen mcgregor, she's in a movie with him a put on a bit of weight but still hot. not as hot as this though (any excuse to post it) Smile

Thank you!

In big MMA news UFC have bought Strikeforce, the news has just broken now:

RE: 199lives I also gave it to Edgar and yes it all depends how you saw the 3rd and 5th rounds.

Re: groundnpound, I'll reply to your PM ASAP, not feeling too good right now.

RE: UFC - SimonAdams - 12-03-2011 19:45

Well i for one did not see that coming, After watching the interview with Dana & from what i understand it would seem although they have bought Strikeforce it will still be a separate promotion from UFC, so no fighters from Strikeforce fighting in the UFC and vice versa.
